I wondered if anyone else on here has had a baby via PGD IVF? I had my embryo transfer yesterday and am looking for advice on food/drink in the first couple of weeks before I test! Can I eat as normal? Any pointers would be so appreciated as I'm new to this. The hospital haven't given me much info and felt a bit herded out like cattle after the deed had been done lol!
Hi hun, from all the research ive done and spotted on here, things good to have is pineapple core, brazil nuts, avocado, eggs well cooked like boiled... and pomegranate juice.... full fat milk.... nothing too cold more room temp.. no hot baths.... and lots of protein.... good luck xxx
I’m 13 weeks pregnant after ivf pgd. All I did was follow the nhs pregnancy eating guidelines. I don’t really believe in eating special stuff and my normal diet is pretty healthy. I did give up caffeine except in chocolate and obviously no alcohol. I stopped exercising apart from walking. (I haven’t restarted yet but next week I plan to start swimming again now I’m not on pessaries). I took pregnacare max as advised by my clinic.
Four days after my positive pregnancy test my nausea kicked in and my diet became the worst it has ever been in my adult years! I subsist mainly on white foods and apple juice at the moment! It’s crazy that, at the time when you feel like you need the healthiest diet ever, your body rejects stuff. Salad is currently guaranteed to make me vomit! But had a scan yesterday and baby is growing well, she’s obviously getting everything she needs.
Oh I have avoided hot baths as advised by my clinic too.
Hello! Thanks so much for the detailed reply. The pessaries are just delightful aren’t they! I walk my dog every day so hoping that will be ok as exercise in these incredibly early days? I’ll get some pregnacare max too.
Have you put weight on? I feel like the hormones make me so bloated ☹. This is fantastic news! Do you have kids already?
My partner has a genetic mutation called SDHB, it basically creates tumours and he’s been battling liver cancer due to it for 2.5 years. He’s much better now but it’s always a worry. PGD will allow us to eradicate the gene from the family. x
It’s my first baby. Had two miscarriages and two failed ivf treatments then found out there’s a balanced chromosome translocation in hubbie’s family which is the reason for our problems, now compounded by my age (39). We only got one viable embryo from our pgd round, and I’ll be outside the nhs age guidelines for further funded treatment in a month’s time, so we feel very lucky to have had this one take, just desperate for the pregnancy to continue without problems!
Good luck with your 2ww... make sure you stick it out until otd!
Ps am curious to know where you had your treatment but we are not allowed to name clinics on the main board, maybe you wouldn’t mind pm-ing me? I’m only being nosey though!
Oh and re weight I was a bit bloated and I’ve put weight on generally since first round of ivf two years ago which I blame on the hormones but I lost a kilo in the first couple of months of pregnancy due to sickness. I’m now the exact same weight I was when I had ET.
