i have completed my first IVF cycle and manage to get my 16 blastocysts ( š®) biopsied and sent over to the lab who will now complete the PGD testing.
They are testing for a genetic sequence which contributes to the dominant genetic condition Iām trying to get rid of!
Has anyone been through this process and know how long this stage takes?! Iām so impatient as a person so IVF really isnāt playing to my strengths š

16 blasts is bloody amazing! You must be really chuffed š
I havenāt done PGD but I did PGS testing on my last round and the results took about 10 days to come back. I know the waiting if tough but youāve got such a great number to work, try and focus on that for now xxx
Thank you! I couldnāt believe it! 8 are A grade and 8 are C so hoping itās the A grades that donāt have the gene! š Trying to keep myself busy!! Xx
Honestly donāt get too hung up on the grades, lots of Cās make perfectly healthy babies! My clinic doesnāt even tell you the grades unless you ask as they donāt think it matters too much as long as they are good quality to biopsy and freeze xx
Yeah Iāve read that online! I guess genetics play a huge part too! I was reading something about embryo quality and gender?! But didnāt know if there was any truth in that xx
Yeah Iāve heard slower blast developers are more likely to be girls but Iām currently pregnant with my first PGS transfer, which is a girl, and it was my first blast to develop out of three so š¤·š¼āāļøš xx
Do you know the difference between PGD & PGS? Iām a little confused about this.
Our first round of PGD testing was a fail as both embryos came back with no result. The lab stuffed up. When retesting only one was strong enough to last the rethaw, they ended up taking too many cells and it failed.
A year later the technology has improved substantially and now they only have to test the culture medium, so donāt have to take any cells, leaving the blast completely intact.
We are now 10 weeks pregnant with our 1st transfer.
Iām now just a bit nervous that PGD doesnāt cover all genetic diseases and is maybe too specific
Oh thatās so frustrating! Glad to hear youāre pregnant now though š
As far as I know, PGS checks for missing or extra chromosomes whereas PGD looks for specific conditions if youāre a known carrier. Is that why you had PGD?
Mine were all biopsied but the cells taken are from the part that becomes the placenta so it doesnāt affect the part that becomes the baby xx
Hi I have been doing PGD for 5 years. It is hard going but best of luck. It normally take 3 weeks to get the results back but depends on the testing they are doing.my partner has a condition that passes from Male to female so ours are just gender checked to find the boys. I hope this helps x
I've had three lots of this and each time it was between 2 and 3 weeks. The last round they had to test twice as one was inconclusive and the testing was done in America and it was still the same timeframe for each test.
