Hi yes the pessary is usually a little messy until it dissolves.

If you insert it lying down and stay lying down for at least 30 minutes (or do it at bedtime) it shouldn't be too bad. You'll need to go to the loo to dispel the waxy cover as soon as you stand up but then it should be fine. You'll need a panty liner.

If you insert from behind you should be able to get up and move around straight away without any mess. I actually put some Vaseline on my finger to help insert it easily only about half a finger up (TMI!) But that helped it be less painful after is inserted you shouldn't feel anything.

Yes totally normal! I find the pessaries the worst part. I found the front easier to insert and just put up with them being messy and painful (they irritated my cervix which caused a small amount of spotting and it was like my opening had swollen which caused it to be difficult to even get an applicator in). Try a small liner in your underwear to catch anything. If you're not home when you have to insert one and have to do it standing, lift one leg to make the angle easier to insert it. But it's one of those things that isn't pleasant or comfortable but we do it. Wishing you luck with this xx

The pessary is made up of the the drug and a waxy substance, it is the waxy stuff that doesn’t absorb into your body that falls out naturally. Need a panty liner or don’t wear nice knickers!

Yup pretty much they are gross!!! Need to lie down after you insert for 20mins and use a party liner...they are the worst 😅 but the things we do eh 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was told I could insert it behind only the front ways yes it's messy but you get used to it, although I have thrush regularly because of them :-|

Are they more likely to help this pregnancy as I have mc 5 times now and am really worried this will be a 6th x

I would definitely do the back way it’s so much easier and you can get up and about straight away - you should only feel uncomfy if they aren’t all the way in.

Sorry about your MC - it’s difficult to know if they will help or not - it all depends on your reason for MC x

So we have just had a scan and the pesseries have worked we r officially pregnant 9 weeks and 3 days xx

I prefer using up back passage as less messy and was causing me to get thrush and I think they dissolve better. Some clinics may insist on them being put in either front or back. From what I remember though back passage was causing me to have constipation though.

I mean the pessary up front passage was causing me thrush.
