Spotting

Starting to get paranoid, I had some brown spotting on Friday & a bit yesterday. Today slight flecks of red but I’m thinking it’s due to to progesterone as it tends to be post taking them. I had my viability scan 2 weeks ago measuring 8w1d. Heartbeat was good. Am I being to paranoid. My next scan isn’t until the 1st June but I’m really tempted to get a private one done? Anyone experienced this at 10 weeks?

Hi Pinky,

Sorry you’re having such a worry! I didn’t experience this but I did my didn’t do my progesterone vaginally and that is notorious for causing irritation and spotting. Are you on cyclogest by any chance? If you are I would suggest using it rectally instead. But try not to worry (impossible I know!) as I’m sure everything is fine with your little bean.

I think if it gives you peace of mind, absolutely go for another scan. I had one at 10 weeks and found it really reassuring xx

Hi it’s utrogestan I’m on along with everything else lol! Yeah I’m trying not to worry but I think a scan is the only way not too 3 weeks is too long if this continues. It’s not every time I go to the loo & im sure I wouldn’t even notice if I was toilet paper watching!!

It’s probably just a bit of irritation but book a scan in just for peace of mind! They look so different by 10 weeks as well, it’s well worth having one 😊

I would love to tell you the knicker checking stops but it doesn’t! 19 weeks and still doing it!🙈 xx

I know how you feel. I had some light brown spotting last week. I also had some period pains - not crippling at all more heavy dull aching which was told is probably stretching and moving. My brown discharge didn’t last more than a day and it never went dark brown or red. My midwife and fellow followers on here have said it’s common and as it’s brown it’s just old blood. This can be from a hormone influx or the pessaries. I’m taking the same ones as you. I’ve booked a ten week scan for reassurance because the wait to 12 week seemed an eternity. My scan is on Tuesday evening. It’s ok for me to say try to not to worry but I know I did for a day or two. I’ve had absolutely nothing since and KiboXX took time to message me and calm me (bless her). We are always full of anxiety but most sources suggest as long as it’s not heavy red bleeding and excruciating cramps chances are it’s just the motions of early pregnancy. Remember every woman has different experiences and no two journeys are the same xx

Yeah thanks I’m struggling to get a private scan everyone has shut so far due to COVID.

The struggle is real. Having to travel 30+ miles for one here in Kent! I’ll be just ten weeks. Not sure where you’re located. Good luck xx

Hi, I just wanted to check in and see how you were after reading this. I have had some brown spotting and period like cramps in the last day or 2 and am 6 weeks. This sounded familiar and the clinic have said to just monitor until my visibility scan friday, reading this reassured me a bit so thanks and hope you are doing well a few months later. x

I’m all fine and now 20 weeks. Mine lasted a day and was so faint - think it was old blood which can be common. Try not to panic, I’m sure it’s all ok. Your scan will soon be here. Xx

Hi yes I’m all fine too at nearly 21 weeks now. Mine was on & off for a few days but in the end all was fine, it can be worrying & I sure was until I got reassurance from here & my scan!
