Pentaxifylline/ Trental side affect advice

Hi All. I have been prescribed the above medication to try to get my lining thicker. Just been reading all the possible side affects and warning and it’s scared me to death. Has anyone had any experience of using this? TIA

Hey Tia, I dont have experience of taking this but I have spoken to a couple of others that have taken it and been ok. To be fair I think if we look at most drugs they all come with some crappy side effects and some really scary ones too. I always try not to think about the possible side effects too much and just concentrate on the best outcome....perhaps not the most sensible way to look at it but just think, this may be your answer!! I took this for years for my lining and the only side effect i noticed was that my feet got quite hot in summer due to the increase in blood flow (and i tend to get hot feet anyway due to a quirky family gene ) Are you also taking vitamin e with it?

Yes I am taking 1000mg vit e. Did your lining improve?

Hi there, yes it definitely did - I went from 6-6.5mm to 8-8.5mm..

Oh wow hope it has the same affect on mine. How long were you on it for?

I was on it on and off for around 4 years, but I noticed a difference even after 1 month, although the studies say that you shouldnt expect to see improvements until after 3 months...

That’s good. Can I ask how much you were taking a day? I am just 1 tablet 400mg but seems low?

I was taking 800 mg/day and this was the dose that was shown to be effective in a clinical trial - maybe if you don't see an improvement over 3 months you should ask for a higher dose?

Hey I’ve been reading ur post , I have the exact same problem. I’m 29 experienced 3 cancelled cycles with the FET But on a fresh go my lining gets to 9.4m but still had BFN . If u have any look with the Trental, I’m tempted to put this forward to my clinic.

Also had the mini stim FET lining was better than the estrogen/patches but still negative all with top quality embroyos . 😟. Been close to giving up. Xx

Aww bless you it’s so frustrating isn’t it. They are going to try me with a natural cycle FET next but to be honest my lining wasn’t great when natural in the past either only getting to 6.5. I’ll let you know how I get on. I have just had a period that was a lot heavier and longer than usual (mine usually only last a day) so I’m hoping that is a good sign.
