Ivf bloodwork

Mother_of_nations profile image

Today I’m having a call from my clinic about another failed cycle and I believe it is because my clinic did not run blood tests to measure my hormone levels during my previous cycles that is why they failed.

Please can anyone please share the bloodwork done, what it tested for during your fresh or frozen cycle and when?

Sorry to hear of your failed cycle. The only bloods Ive had done during my cycles are to check my progesterone levels before transfer and I had to ask and pay for this. Its not common for clinics to do your bloods during cycles or at least not in my experience.xx

Thanks for your response Cinderella. I wish I have at least a test record for my hormone levels and we have a way forward.

I had no bloodwork done for any of my hormone levels before the transfer. For some reason I believe this might be a crucial piece.

Now 2 failed cycles and no information as to what might be wrong. If I have to do it again, I guess I’ll have to insist on having my blood levels checked.

Its hard to know why things fail as if they knew what it was they would fix it I guess. The odds of IVF working is massively against us unfortuantely and its a bit of a lottery, its around 30% of success so not great! I think checking your progesterone levels are important for success but like I say its all a bit of a lucky dip an some of us get lucky and others dont!xx

I agree on the luck and the not so great a chance for it to result in a success.

However, if all the i’s and t’s are left undotted and uncrossed I believe chances of having a success has dipped even further.

Hi. So sorry for you dear. I did not have any blood tests (nhs) and it failed shortly (5weeks). Did you get a bfp on thise cycles ? When looking into private clinics i see some offer bloods when they do the scans ? I feel you and also good point Cinderella mentioned maybe ask for it and pay for it next time x

Thank you Mimi.

Yes I had a bfp on the first cycle. However I experienced a miscarriage some days after.

Before I had this second cycle, I had been on many medications to improve my egg quality and I believe they might have also had an effect on my hormone levels.

Blood tests and medications are always borne by the patient so I don’t mind. I just wish I knew this earlier, I would have been happy to pay.
