Day 5 transfer of 2 grade C blastocysts

Hi everyone, this is my first post, but I’ve been reading all of you guys posts for a few weeks now. Today we had our 5 day blastocyst fresh transfer and has used donor eggs. We were disappointed when we arrived to be told that only 2 of the 10 eggs that fertilised were good enough to transfer - both graded Cs, the other 5 that made it to blastocyst are currently graded Fs and are being left until tomorrow to see if any make it to be able to freeze. We were given option to transfer both, which we chose to do, as were told they wouldn’t freeze them. We’ve been told there’s a 55% chance of successful pregnancy and 35% of twins. The embryologist didn’t seem too concerned about the quality of this 2 and told us not to be disheartened as she thought they still look good, or the 5 that are still - hopefully - developing. That’s easier said than done and I think we’d both got our hopes up so much after having 10 fertilise, 7 were going strong on day 3 with three of them described as top quality. Has anyone got any similar experiences to share? I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, I know we’ve been lucky to get to this stage, but like everyone on here, we’ve put all we’ve got in to this for years. Stay safe everyone xx

Hi, and welcome! Sorry to hear you didn't get quite the result you had hoped for. We all want loads to freeze, but truthfully it doesn't seem to happen all that often! I had just 3 fertilise, but all 3 were good enough quality on day 5. I opted to transfer just one (to minimize risk of twins) and freeze the other 2. It seems like your clinic is making pretty sensible decisions. Fingers crossed for your 2ww and hoping as many as possible will grow overnight for you to freeze! 🤞🙏 xxxx
