We had our egg retrieval yesterday in Brussels. Found out today that out of nine, six fertilised BUT everything is now on hold. The hospital is cancelling all non emergency procedures and we won't know until Monday if the transfer will go ahead on that day. 😕 So we've decided to wait in Brussels to find out though I'm not very hopeful. Just hoping we don't get stranded here. We recently moved to London. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Congrats on the six fertilised eggs! Fingers crossed for the transfer - I think you have to take each day as it comes at the moment - things are changing so rapidly 🤞
I’m the same in Spain and if everything goes as planned transfer should be 23rd or 24th March. I honestly keep thinking there gonna give us the terrible news they have to shut the clinic or we can’t go ahead for some reason. Then we will have to wait for months. We have waited sooo long already 😢
Hi stella. Any reason you did it in BE? X
Hi Mimisami. Yes, we were living in Brussels when we first started IVF in October. When we moved to the UK for new jobs, we continued in Belgium because their public health care system covers six cycles, which is extremely generous
Wow!!! That is extremely generous. I moved to the uk from NL and NL covers 3 rounds i believe compared to the 1 NHS 😢 so that is why i am preparing to go private and shop around. Do you reckon BE offers cheaper private treatment compared to the uk? X sorry for all the questions x
Yes I believe it would be less expensive in Belgium, especially through the hospital clinic. We go to saint luc in Brussels and they are excellent....can't say enough about the professionalism and kindness of the doctors and nurses. And with the Eurostar, the travel isn't all that bad...less than two hours by train.
Thank you so much. I will have a look in to BE clinics xxxx
Hey, we are about to start a frozen cycle in the UK and the clinic said if the situation gets worse they will divert fertility staff to other hospitals to help the virus so our treatment would be cancelled. It’s a massive risk to go ahead but what can we do? 🤷🏼♀️ Really feel for you & hope transfer happens soon. Much love & best wishes xx
Out of curiosity, are you private or NHS? I’m in the same boat...due to start stims in two weeks. I hate the uncertainty 😔
I’m private/paying but still at an NHS fertility hospital. Due to start drugs for frozen cycle week after next with aim for transfer at Easter. But could all stop if either I have to self isolate or the fertility hospital shut. 😬 It’s worrying enough without this right?!
