History repeating

What a nightmare! So despite having started on 8mg oestrogen, higher than normal 6mg I’m only measuring at 7.2 at the thickest point.

Upped to 10mg for 3 days. Transfer delayed. This is like my first FET. Makes me all nervous.

Fingers crossed for Thursday’s repeat scan🤞🏻

Hey good luck. My lining was apparantly 7mm at transfer. It stuck and I had my daugher. All the best.

The same happened to me but they cancelled my cycle I was so upset they never gave me the chance to up my meds etc currently waiting on my period to start a short protocol with different medication to see if it gets to 8 but most people do transfer 7 or over fingers crossed a couple more days does the trick for you x

They did this last time and it was 8.2mm 5 days before transfer. Fingers crossed as they went from 6mg to 12mg last time it went from 5.5 to 8.2... This time I’ve gone from 8mg to 10mg for 3 days I think we will be fine xx

My lining was rubbish on estrogen, even at super high doses. It turned out that I had a blood flow problem and my thin lining wasn't estrogen-related. In the end what worked for me was 1000 IU vitamin e and 800 mg/day pentoxifyline, which increased blood flow to my uterus :)

How did they find that out for you I am just curious ?

Cmc2020 profile image
Cmc2020 in reply to Cmc2020

Because I have had miscarriages and I am starting to wonder if it’s something like that or lupus they won’t investigate it the now tho xx

articsnowfox profile image

It was because I didn't respond to the estrogen so poor blood flow is one of the other major reasons for thin lining. But my doctor wasn't all that good with respect to coming up with ways to treat my lining and had no recommendations for other treatments aside from aspirin, which didn't do anything, so I basically had to do my own research (I am a medical writer so looking for studies, evidence, etc is part of my job, thank goodness). Luckily for me, even though she didn't put much effort into my case, she was open to trying the treatments I recommended.

And sorry to hear about your miscarriages :( (I think I wasted multiple good quality blasts due to my lining issues, which, although not the same as a miscarriage, is still a pretty horrible thought..)

Cmc2020 profile image

Yeah I wasn’t responding well to them either but she knows my lining can get thick with stim drugs and before my miscarriages I have had thick lining it’s such a pain I might try the vitamins you said before my next treatment I have heard of other people taking it to help with lining I can’t wait any longer and thank you I have 7 Frozen embryos so I am feeling hopeful one at least implants 😊and thank you it’s been a long stressful journey ruptured ectopic followed by 2 natural miscarriages but hopefully I get my little bundle of joy soon 💪🤞

How long did you take this regimen? And during which time of your cycle? Thank you!

articsnowfox profile image

I took it for the whole time I was going through IVF - it is supposed to take a few months to start working but it happened quite quickly for me. And it seemed pretty fine side-effects wise - the only thing I noticed was that my feet would get really hot in summer, I guess due to the increased blood flow!

Thanks for sharing!! Both my FETs were cancelled due to thin lining. We tried both natural and medicated cycle. Estrogen patches and pills etc. I went through a Dopplar scan also which detects the blood flows and realised my blood flows have been poor.

Also I notice generally my body is cold. My feet are also cold most of the time. I think what u mentioned here might help me as wel.

My current lining doesn’t go beyond 6mm. Did u see good changes to ur lining after this?

And u said it took one cycle of taking these supplements or medicines before u saw changes?

articsnowfox profile image
articsnowfox in reply to Baggit

Yeah, my lining increased from around 6mm to around 7.5/8mm, and was actually 8.5mm on my last (successful) transfer. It did only take a month, but I think it usually takes 3 months and one of the studies i found looked at changes after 12 months.. I also noticed quite quickly after starting the treatment that my periods seemed a bit heavier. Another drug that is used in some of the big IVF centres in the US is viagra, which, like pentoxifyline, increases blood to the pelvic region. So that might be worth trying as well. Although in the US, the clinics have it made up into a special formulation that you insert vaginally, and they don't take it orally. Another non-estrogen treatment to try is granulocyte colony stimulating factor, altho this didn't do much for my lining, but did for another patient of my doctor. Good luck with whatever you chose to do!

Use a hot water bottle against your tummy in the evenings. Only before transfer while you're trying to thicken your lining. Best of luck. X

Hi there,

I had a similar issue and they added Estradot 100 patches, which helped the lining massively. I do it every cycle now

Sorry to hear this - I've had the same issue with my last 2 cycles and both were cancelled. Really hope things improve for you and you can go ahead. I have started a totally different protocol today for my next transfer so hopeful that will work. Really hope it all goes well for you - try raspberry leaf tea and also caster oil packs as well as they're meant to make a difference xx

Hi Libsie, going through similar issues to 2 cancllled fet. Please can you share the protocol that you are going for, maybe I can get some inspiration!

Of course, I’m on Tamoxifen 20mg daily and then 3 x 2mg of estrogen daily. First scan will be Day 10 so we’ll see if it’s worked. Tamoxifen is used in breast cancer treatment but also in fertility treatment. It’s meant to block estrogen in the body which seems weird when I’m taking it as well! They’ve said they’ve had success before so we’ll see! x

Oh I have read about tamoxifen working on some people. Thanks for sharing.

Good luck!! And really hope I see good results

Thank you & to you. Really hope you get some success. My 1st scan is next Friday so I’ll keep you posted! Someone also suggested a natural cycle again which I had for my 1st FET, that’s the plan if this doesn’t work! x

Baggit profile image
Baggit in reply to Libsie3103

Awesome! I had a natural cycle this cycle which got cancelled on day 17 due to thin lining. Let’s see what we do in the next one. It doesn’t seem like the doctor is understanding my issue. She is suggesting a down regulated FET next cycle, and I’m not sure if that will solve the problem.

Libsie3103 profile image
Libsie3103 in reply to Baggit

It’s so frustrating! I had to pay Access for a cancellation fee for the last cycle as well even though it wasn’t my fault (well technically I guess my body didn’t respond but they made the decision!) I think my Consultant has mentioned that as well. I didn’t have any issues with my fresh transfer but my first and this FET have all had issues. I’m sure it’s why I’m not getting pregnant naturally! Have you tried acupuncture as well? x

Baggit profile image
Baggit in reply to Libsie3103

Yes I’m doing accupuncture and castors for last 2 months. I’m very convinced that I’m not calling pregnancy natural is due to the lining only else everything (touchwood) seems to be functioning well. And I have a feeling that if I get patient and keep trying naturally I might just concieve on a random cycle. But don’t wanna take that chance coz u never know how long a wait that would be

Libsie3103 profile image
Libsie3103 in reply to Baggit

Totally agree! I feel the same. Wishing you lots of luck - if you don’t mind letting me know what your Consultant says so I know for next time that would be great!

Absolutely! Will keep you posted. My next appointment is around 19th March when my new cycle starts. Will share with you what she plans.
