Hi, Currently trying again for our second child and this forum was so helpful last time so I’m back
When I first did ivf I stopped exercising (or doing anything really) and I started gaining weight, then that continued into pregnancy and I ended up pretty overweight and really struggling to loose it. Now we’ve just started ivf again I’d like to pay more attention to my weight/general health, and I’d really love to keep running but everything I’m reading says I shouldn’t, and my clinic haven’t really said either way.
I’m wondering what kind of exercise routines people are doing during their ivf cycles?
Thanks

I have also stopped all exercise. I was told by my clinic not to do anything where you cannot have a conversation at the same time, which eliminates everything for me. I used to be very sportive too.
I did couch to 5k up until my down ref injection . Then I had a break between EC and transfer due to a polyp , so I ran again until I started FET drugs. Not advised to run and bang your ovaries about. Walking and swimming are ok 👌🏻 small sacrifice , I resigned, if it helped the process. I also had numb arms etc on meds and was so sore during stims and after EC I couldn’t have kept running. Your clinic will advise you 😘
I’m a cyclist but was advised to cut back on the intense exercise before & during IVF. With the agreement of the clinic I did some low intensity exercise during down-reg - walking, indoor cycling & some resistance work, making sure I didn’t work hard enough to sweat.
During stims, it was even less because the ovaries felt mahusive! But I walked every night & did a few very slow indoor cycles. It definitely helped with stress relief.
Hi Runner! you can run, but it's best not whilst stimming. If you have very full ovaries (which is a real positive! lots of lovely eggs!) you can twist the ovaries, which is really not what you want. It's only a short time (+ 2ww of course) so worth not running in this time. You can walk fast though!!!
