Failed Endo Scratch

Hi everyone, so I was due to have my Endo Scratch today but the doctor had to stop as my cervix is too tight. He couldn't even get the catheter through and it was really painful for me. He said I wil need to have GA to have my cervix dilated. His this ever happened to anyone else? Could this be the cause for my infertility? Feel so deflated but he said it's lucky I was booked for Scratch as if I had gone through the whole ivf on day of transfer he wouldn't have been able to transfer the embryo so I guess everything happens for a reason. Just means my treatment is delayed now and I will have to go on the waiting list for the GA as I'm NHS 😢 Xx

Sorry you've had to experience this I think if my memory serves me right Lizzielizzielizzie has had something like this we're the cervix needs dilating I remember a recent post which she responded to and mentioned having her cervix dilated not sure what it was for. Sorry Lizzie if I'm wrong but I'm sure she'd be able to offer you some advice. Iv tagged her name in this so she'll read and hopefully confirm and advise.

Your right though at least you found out now because if you didn't you'd be disappointed on transfer day. I wish you all the best hun.

Sorry wasn't much help

💗🤗😘

Well remembered! It didn’t tag me but I’m a bit addicted to this forum at the moment so I saw it and replied before seeing I was tagged in your answer!!

Hi there I had cervical dilation after a difficult embryo transfer and then a dummy transfer where they couldn’t get the catheter through. It was worthwhile because I then had a FET which went really smoothly and I got my bfp. Mine was done under ga/sedation and I didn’t feel a thing. I think it also acts a bit like a scratch. Xx

Hi, I had exactly the same thing happen to me.

We were travelling from bournemouth to London to have our treatment in January and they were struggling with the endo scratch due to the same thing. She had 2 attempts at it and said I should go on the waiting list to be put to sleep to have it done.

I refused due to having to travel all the time (were NHS Aswell) and told her to have another go even though I was in agony, she was there ages trying to do it and eventually did it! She said the same that if they hadn’t of done that we would have been disappointed come the transfer!

I did look into seeing if that was the cause of us not falling pregnant but I don’t think it is.

We actually conceived naturally September but I’ve just had a missed miscarriage so just one of rose things.

Good luck with your treatment

Wishing u all the best

Xx

Oh no poor u sounds as though u have had a rough day! I had my ET today and My consultant today said it can be difficult to to pass the catheter through the cervix. I had lorazepam for my first ET and diazepam today with gas and air so if you didn’t have that today maybe it’s something u could try? Good luck and I hope the waiting list isn’t too long so you can crack on with your round xxx

Hi megad26. Oh dear, this is a disappointment. However, having your cervix dilated under a GA is the way to go, and there shouldn't be any side effects. Once all this is over, perhaps mention having a dummy run for embryo transfer etc to check all is still well - which it should be. Good luck! Diane

Thank you for replying to my post Diane, I will definetely suggest that. I also had the test results of my AMH test but I don't really understand it and wondered if you could help? She said my results were 20.3. What does this mean? I am 26 xx

Hi. Anything over 15 is good, so at your age 20.3 shows your fertility is good. Well done! Diane

I had a cervical dilation under GA at the same time as my lap and dye. They also did a hysteroscopy to get a good look at my cervix. If they’re going to put you under then maybe see if you can ask the consultant whose list you are on, whether they are willing to do any other procedures whilst you are out. I have been pregnant twice in the 11 months since my procedure having never been pregnant beforehand. Unfortunately both pregnancies have ended in miscarriage but that is almost certainly because we have now discovered a male problem as well. So, although it was unpleasant (the GA, not the dilation), I would recommend it, and would also recommend getting them to do everything possible whilst you are on that table! Pm me if you want more info x
