After three disastrous cycles I have decided to go for an Unlimited IVF 2 year 100% refund package in the UK.
It is a huge commitment and vastly expensive, which is why I need to be sure on the clinic. I have spoken to Lister and CRGH who both have wildly different ideas about how to treat my "special" case of immature eggs, no blasts and sperm fragmentation. One thinks I should try again on short protocol with a different trigger drug and the other wants me to do a whole new regime with the long protocol, growth hormones, steroids!
Yet again, I am struggling to decide. Can anyone PM me with the name of the clinic/doctor in London or UK that worked wonders with complicated cases? Or a clinic I should stay away from?
Hi Anna. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. Like you I have had three cycles and I have just signed up for the 2 year unlimited program. I don't know about which clinics are best with complicated cases, but I have been with two clinics (one NHS-funded, one private) and I can see there are vast differences in clinics! Only a small sample size, but agree you really have to shop around because the clinics really differ. My main criteria when first choosing a clinic were HFEA success rates, reviews online, and history of the clinic. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
Thanks so much!! Would you mind messaging me on the chat what clinic you decided on? Best of luck with your unlimited cycle - has to work in the end xxxx
I hate to throw a spanner in the works but have you spoken to Access fertility? My understanding is that if you have had 3 unsuccessful cycles you’re unlikely to be accepted onto a refund programme. Maybe I’m wrong.
I’m at Lister, no major grumbles. They got me a little girl, still trying for number 2.
I've also had 3 failed cycles, all lister and now am only eligible for a 2 cycle no refund package with acsess. I'm starting in Jan in Manchester this time. Best of luck, you sound like me, il never give up
We have just moved clinics from Bourn to IVI London. Just finished our first cycle there and had much better results then we had previously. We haven’t done a transfer yet as they recommended a FET with PGS.
Overall much better experience all round. Happy to give more info on PM.
If you were at Bourn you must be Essex/Cambridge way? How did you make things work getting to London for all your scans? I’ve genuinely not heard of IVI, how did you go about selecting this clinic?
Yes I’m in Cambridge, Bourn is literally a 20 min drive from me!
We just got the train in for scans, it’s a 5 min walk from Oxford Circus Tube so not horrendous. The egg collection was early though so we stayed overnight the night before and hubby drove that time.
We looked at quite a few clinics before settling on IVI. Everywhere else just felt like more of the same we had at Bourn, immediately talking about cycle dates and booking in, we didn’t want another conveyor belt.
IVI have a number of clinics in Spain which have amazing success rates so we were intrigued to see what there newer London clinic was like. They didn’t rush us into any treatment and I learnt more in one consultation then I had in three previous cycles. So far been really happy, had the same doctor from first consultation to my egg collection. Change of protocols gave me much better results as well.
Hi Anna, I went to the Evewell clinic on Harley street. The clinic head is Colin Davis who has very high success rates, however i saw his associate Dr Dimitre P. They practice more American style IVF - duo-stim, Human growth hormone etc. They will throw the book at you and they do really listen and understand how difficult it is. I truly love them as doctors. I have decided to move on to donor eggs but I beleive they are an amazing clinic.
