Hi all, i have been thinking that i would like to put back 2 embryos back in my next round ( 3rd time lucky ). I had a clinical review 2 weeks ago and a other consultant said he would not advise me as i am a higher risk! After having a ectopic pregnancy. They said to do pgs testing on my 4 embryos left, but there is no evidence is works and half the clinics do not even do this. My clinic does this test which is 3k. I feel like i do not wanna mess around with my embryos. Has anyone been through this. Maybe if it was a fresh cycle i might do it. I am trying to stay positive. Also would you recommend any supplements and any tips or investigations. I am meeting with my consultant in December and not seen her since the ectopic.

Hello, I had a conversation with the embryologist at my clinic recently in order to help me to decide whether to PGS my remaining embryos. What she said may help you make your decision.
Testing frozen embryos will involve thawing them, biopsying them, then re freezing them. Then thawing then again when you go to have them put back in. That’s a lot of messing about with them and they don’t tend to like it much. You could potentially lose a PGS normal embryo basically.
They are apparently seeing ‘no results’ come back for frozen embryos more frequently meaning you could go through all the testing and pay all that money for them to get no result at all.
PGS testing reduces the time to baby but does not increase your overall chances of getting pregnant. It might just save you the time and trauma of transferring abnormal embryos and getting a BFN. If time is of the essence for you it may be worth considering.
I would ask to speak to the embryologist at your clinic because for me it was really helpful. They can give you the facts and more details than consultant etc.
They generally think that PGS testing is more beneficial for fresh cycles and in older women where time is of the essence.
For me i think if I was having a fresh cycle I’d do it but I don’t think I want to risk my frozen ones.
Prior to my chemical pregnancy I thought I had repeated implantation failure and my clinic were recommending the ERA/Emma/Alice tests. That might be worth a look at for you.
Hope this helps a little bit. Ultimately you have to decide what’s best for you xxx
Hi Stsr. With regards to testing your little frosties, I assume you have read the HFEA's guidelines regarding add-on treatments. hfea.gov.uk I feel if it could guarantee success, then it would be 3k well spent. Putting 2 embryos has its risks as you know, and is usually reserved for a 3rd fresh cycle. I would listen to your specialist's advice - my opinion. Whatever you do decide, obviously I wish you both success. Thinking of you. Diane
Hello I had an ectopic pregnancy with my first IVF too and on the subsequent fresh cycles we did put two both tubes! I was worried but my clinic reassured me that if I put two I have greater chance I’d success and because I had an ectopic once it does not increase my chances for another ectopic!!
I hope that helps!! X
My wife had one embryo in the first cycle which failed. So, for the second cycle she is determined to have two embryos implanted and go against the advice given.
Dangerous, as if both develop, body may not be able to support them due to having a Caesarian before and of having a petite body. Very high chance of miscarriage or premature birth.
But she believes that two is better than one and she is deaf to all advice.
