Scan Update - follicles

Hey

Had my first scan since I started stimms (day 9 today) and all seems ok.

I got a bit lost.. I have 6 follicles growing on one side and about 11 on the other. Not quite big enough yet, I think the nurse said they need to be 2cm before I can have the trigger shot - so far they’re around 1.3cm. Have another scan due on Monday. Probably a stupid question, but what is the usual growth rate? Are they likely to develop that much over a few days? She seemed to think I’d be ready for egg collection mid to late next week, but couldn’t confirm until monday andai need another scan after that. Feel a bit disappointed - just need to keep going i guess.

I’ve been feeling quite bloated - the nurse tells me it’s likely to get worse. Will be living in my PJs’ - have the next two week off work, thankfully.

Interview was ok! Surprised if I get offered it - but you never know!

Hi Barbara1012. Well you seem to be responding very well to the meds. The follicles grow at different rates for everyone, so it is difficult to say how big they will be day to day. However the largest one needs to be between 17-22mms befoer the trigger shot is done. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, as feeling bloated at this stage could indicate slight over stimulation. I'm sure all will work out fine, just keep up the fluids. Good luck with egg collection when the time comes, and of course for fertilisation. Thinking of you. Diane

Hey 👋 I think we’re cycle buddies. My egg collection is possibly next Friday if all continues on the right track. Your follicles will continue to grow every day. Mine were measured today too and like you, my next scan is on Monday. I have another on Wednesday xx

Just jumping in as it seems I am in a similar stage. Ive just had a scan today and mine arent growing as much as i think they expected.

I think my biggest one is 13mm but a lot are lagging behind - might have to up my dose but waiting to hear back from the hospital on this.

My next scan is also Monday, still hopeful that my collection will be Wednesday but there is a chance it could change - FC we all get some good news xx

You'll be surprised at how quickly they can grow in a few days - just keep doing what you're doing and drink plenty of water xx

Hello, I will join this ‘cycle party’ too, if that’s ok. I’m expecting to have egg collection on Wednesday. I’m on a short protocol so had three scans this week and have one more on Wednesday. I’m going for quality not quantity apparently (ovaries have a mind of their own at age 43!) and I have 7 follicles growing well. One is over 20mm I think and the others might catch up over the weekend. I’m not feeling too bloated, but my acupuncturist said as my periods are usually horrific the side effects of meds wont be too out of the ordinary for me. I have acupuncture booked for tomorrow and another session next weekend and reflexology too. I’m making the most of this!! I’m on leave for two weeks from Wednesday also. Hope all your follicles are bloomtastic!

Haha that’s great Kathryn - make the most of it, anything that makes you feel better can only be a good thing! Planning on a quiet lazy weekend - and hopefully all will be well on Monday. Keep me posted on how you get on xx
