Confused Positive

Hi

My wife and I are going through second full round IVF treatment. (First round resulted in MC)

She had a Day 4 embryo transfer on 26/10 and started spotting light pink on 1/11. Contacted hospital and they've increased progesterone.

She is still slightly spotting on and off BUT has had a feint positive HPT on 4/11 and a stronger positive HPT today (6/11) indicating her hCG levels are increasing. The trigger shot was on 19/10 and was an Ovitrelle 250 so surely this isn't in her system any longer?

However the blood loss is still worrying. No pain and no other advice from hospital other than to test on OTD (8/11).

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thank you.

Hey, I’ve heard from a few people that spotting is very common particularly in IVF pregnancies as there can be a bruise caused by the catheter that bleeds. No experience myself but fingers crossed for you both x

Hi lunalovegood11

Thank you for your reply.

It's just so worrying as you see blood regularly and think the worst!

This round so far is completely different to the last and that's keeping us positive.

Thank you for your kind words ☺️ x

Hi, a lot of us in here had spotting in the 2ww and after. I had quite a bit (as the pessaries really aggravated my cervix and made it bleed) but still got my positive. I didn’t test early because I was scared it would be negative. So i’d say continue as your clinic advise and test again on the date the clinic have given. Fingers crossed for you both 🤞

Hi baypony

Thank you for your reply.

It's good to hear that bleeding can be normal and positive from a real person (not just Google)!

As last time the bleeding was horrendous and accompanied by severe pain.

We have approximately 36hrs left until OTD so fingers crossed the positive results get stronger .

Thank you for your kindness ☺️

Spotting could be implantation bleed.... but just to give you some hope I bled/spotted all the way til I was 14wks and i now have a beautiful 9 month old bouncing baby boy! Unless its bright red and clots i wouldn't worry too much and the fact its positive 2 days before official test date i would say it's the bfp you've been waiting for.... good luck and I hope you have a lovely pregnancy journey with your wife x

Thank you for your reply.

Congratulations on your baby boy 👶🏻

It's reassuring to hear we are not the only ones. I think you just automatically think blood is bad 😯

Just done another HPT and it's another positive so fingers crossed it's positive tomorrow and we can get a blood test done. Too scared to be happy at this point. It's surreal after waiting 6 years! Thank you for your well wishes. Will keep you informed x

I understand the not getting your hopes up we had a lot of issues and had a 14 year journey to get where we are with ALOT of heartache on the way so I really do understand.....

Best of luck with it all, I'm living proof miracles and happy endings are real xx

I have had spotting and bigger bleeds since my positive , I have been to A and E and then also my own GP , they have suggested it is normal

between early weeks because things are embedding and your body is changing to adapt. I have also now been signed off now for two weeks for rest and less stress. It’s really an emotional rollacoaster and has not been enjoyable for that reason. My GP said you can contact the early pregnancy unit at hospital for checks at any point so if you are really concerned please seek out that . It is normal

however always seek medical advice because it will reassure you aswell.

Thank you for your reply.

I've been in contact with our hospital and they too are not worried about blood loss however I'm assuming if we get another positive result tomorrow they will do bloods and check my wife over.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Fingers crossed for you 🤞☺️ x

My GP said they can check the cervix so that’s potentially what they may do.

Thank you. We are now armed with plenty of things to discuss at hospital tomorrow. Can I ask when you told them you had a positive result how long did you wait for a blood test? X
