Title says it all. It’s my husbands sperm retrieval in few hours and I have been in serious panic mode. I could not sleep all night. I have been glued to Healthunlocked searching n searching for God knows?
He’s to arrive the hospital for 7.30am, procedure 8.30 and I have got a job interview for 10am. I don’t know if I should go for the interview or not, I have so many questions to ask the nurse/consultant due to the fact that my consultations have been mostly through the phone, which I am not happy about .We where told about this procedure date over d phone, no email, post letter confirming date. The only opportunity seeing them face to face is today so I am confused if I should hang around or go for my job interview , to be back latest 12. Any advice is welcomed, I know it’s just a few hours away.
Thanks

If it’s possible go to the hospital during the check-in process for your husband and ask the relevant questions. Head over to the interview and when you return ask additional questions. This is only if distance is feasible to get from the hospital to your place of interview.
Another suggestion is to give your husband the questions you want answered and have him write it down.
I know it’s a stressful time but I believe both can be done. You’ll need to just rearrange yourself. Is it possible to move the interview time?
Thanks for replying, even if I give him questions to ask while I am away he’s not going to ask . He thinks the hospital should do what they have to and don’t mind whatever delay comes. His too laid back or can I say very shy .
The hospital is at Barts central London and my job interview is East London about 40 minutes drive.
I can’t move the interview time, It’s same as my present job but just a different Hospital trust so I need to be interviewed.
Hi cici, big day for you both today! I remember my husbands retrieval, and if I'm honest I had lots of questions but there really wasnt a chance to ask anything that day, it was literally all about getting him prepared, getting into theatre, coming round then coming home.
It really doesn't take long but they normally ask for someone to drive him back though with being under sedation. Very difficult with your interview being today, but with his timings if you do stay I dont think you'll make it, on the other hand if someone else can bring him back you could go.
Your clinic maybe different and you may get chance to ask questions but we only saw nurses and the doctor doing the procedure, he then just gave us advice on how to look after my husband over the following few days.
But if I can say anything make sure you keep on at them after this procedure. We soon got forgotten about and I kept calling and calling as they like to do a freeze thaw test before you can start on your part and they were so slow!
Wishing you both lots of luck, ant other questions let me know xx
