NHS funding rejected due to low AMH

Love_the_mountains profile image

Hey all. Just a little update. As we suspected, we just found out we are not eligible for NHS funding due to my low AMH. I feel a bit sad about this but fortunately we are able to go down the private route. Just wish I has known sooner. Can't get appointment at local clinic until November but guess it will be here soon! Time to be very poor but hopefully it will all be worth it xx

Hello!! I'm so sorry you didn't get your funding. It's such a lottery postcode with these criteria.... You know them rejecting you as suitable doesn't mean that you don't have a really good chance of IVF working . Who knows why it works for some people and not others they just have to put these boundaries on it don't they... Ive been fortunate i'm a 33 yr old with 0.8 amh who is 13 wks so it can happen

And I know it's a frustrating having to wait but do use the time to take some Q10 perhaps or acupuncture if you can afford it...or go have a few drinks and a dance, go to a spa! Whatever is good for the soul. Your ovaries are going to be working so hard when you start on those drugs you might not feel like doing so much....

Good luck!!! X

Thank you so much for your reply. It has definitely restored a bit of hope! It really did feel like the the reason they wont fund me is because it wont work. But you are proof that this isnt true! Congratulations! I wish you all the best with your pregnancy xxx

Hey! I had the same AMH of 0.8 and no NHS funding. After waiting another couple of years due to having an ovarian tumour removed and saving up we decided to go abroad for Donor Egg treatment (as we were not impressed by the awful care we got going private with 2 clinics in the UK) and got a positive on our first try. My AMH was done in my early 30s and it’s taken us 7 years but only DE has worked for us (probably due to my age and the tumour). There are a quite a lot of women on here that have had success with low AMH and their own eggs so don’t give up!

Wishing you the best of luck with your journey xx

Hi, I just wanted to give you a bit of reassurance. Im 31 and AMH is 4 and whilst I was lucky that my local CCG funded one cycle (although it wasn’t successful I responded well to treatment and had a 5day blastocyst transfer) My consultant said my amh etc didn’t match how I responded. It just goes to show they never really know until they try so don’t be disheartened by the fact they think it’s not worth funding. We are about to start round two and just hoping I have a similar response. Fingers crossed you will have good results too x

Thank you so much for your reply. Its wonderful to hear some positivity from others in similar situations. I am naturally a worrier so I'm really concerned how I will respond to IVF but know I need to try because there is still hope left. In some ways despite the cost, at least going private gives me more control of the situation. Good luck for round 2 - will be thinking of you! Xxx

Hello. With my AMH at 2.3 we went straight to a private clinic. We were successful first round of icsi. Between now and your cycle look after yourself, eat healthy and stay positive. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻✨Xx
