Hi, wondering if anyone can help me with timelines for a frozen transfer after egg collection?
I went for my egg collection yesterday and we retrieved 9 eggs. I was told my progesterone was too high to go ahead with a fresh 5 day transfer as planned. They said they would only do a fresh transfer if we only get one blastocyst from these eggs as they wouldn’t want to risk the freeze/thaw if we just have just one at day 5. So they’re still asking me to take the progesterone pessaries as though we may have a transfer (seems completely backward to me if my progesterone is already to high but what do I know?)
They’re saying I have to have a withdrawal bleed from this cycle, a natural cycle and then they would do the frozen transfer on the cycle after that! Has anyone else had to wait that long for a frozen transfer? 3 cycles just seems like a lot to me.
Feeling really deflated and fed up with the whole process now, just seems like a never ending waiting game.

Heya. I had to wait three bleeds too - super frustrating and feels like forever, but I guess if it lets your body be in the best shape possible then it’s the right thing….. so hard, though. Hope it all goes well 🤞💪
Thanks for your reply 😊. Yes super frustrating and just feeling really deflated with all this waiting. Is there any prep you have to do for a frozen transfer? More injections or anything? They haven’t really given us much information yet. Still waiting for the call this morning to let us no how many if any fertilised.
A frozen transfer does have prep, but nothing like a fresh cycle - you’d normally take estrogen pills from the start of your period for 10-15 days, then start taking progesterone (which can be either vaginal pessaries or injections, or both) and then the transfer. So it’s a much easier process than an egg collection ☺️🍀 it’s the wait that’s the awful bit! 😬
Hi lovely, I had a similar thing happen after an egg retrieval. I was so gutted when I woke up from sedation and they told me, literally just blubbed away.I had one withdrawal bleed then started meds the next month.
It actually was ok and didn't feel like too long before I started meds again.
I was expecting them to say the cycle after the withdrawal bleed but they seem to want a cycle in between which to me just seems so long. They’ve just rung and I asked the question and she said it’s to get all the hormones out of your system but she did say some people push for a transfer sooner so I guess I’ll have that conversation with the doctor after we find out how many we have to freeze on Monday
It's a tricky one - because you don't want to wait but if they are advising it its hard to know what to do.I have done B2B transfers which weren't successful but I can't say for sure that that was the reason they didn't work. I just wanted to crack on!
