Egg Collection tomorrow!

Fingerscrossed34 profile image

Anyone have any tips?

I’m feeling ok about it just now but I’m not booked in till 12 and have to be at the clinic for 8 so I’ll have time tomorrow probably to build up nerves!

How did people feel afterwards? How long did you need to recover?

Good luck for tomorrow, is someone going with you so they can keep you company while you wait?

I was worried about EC too but it was quite simply a breeze and I slept until I was back in the recovery room.

I was bloated and had some pain when I peed for a day or two but I had no real issues. Straight afterwards I went out for lunch, took a 3 hr train journey and went to a concert without issue.

Let us know how you get on xx

Oh wow! I’m hoping to use it as an excuse for a couple of extra days off work! Haha! They’ve led me to believe I’ll be completely out of it for two days just from the sedation!

Yes my husband is off work so he can be with me all day. I’m not too worried about it I feel rubbish and massive today so I’m looking forward to being able to fit my jeans again and excited about what this week might hold! I didn’t know I needed a nightie till today so my husband had to go out and find one for me (tricky as I’m almost 6 feet tall!).

It’s very strange that it’s finally happening, all that waiting and now it seems like this let cake out of nowhere! x

I guess everyone reacts differently to sedation but I think you could definitely use it as an excuse for a few days off.

I’m sure you’ll do great! 😊 x

Lots of luck for tomorrow. I was so nervous for mine but it was over so quickly and had the loveliest sleep 🙊 I felt ok afterwards, just a bit tired and had slight stomach ache as I had borderline OHSS so just went home and rested.

Hope they get lots of good eggs ☺️ Let us know how you get on. Xxx

I’ve got 18 follicles and on Friday 3 we’re almost there and 6 not far behind so I’m hopeful we’ll get some lovely embryos but one step at a time!

A good sleep sound amazing I had my first lie in after 5 weeks this morning and I still woke up after 8 hours haha, gutted!! x

Wow 18 is amazing & I bet the others will be ready too. For me, they delayed my EC for a day to give 4 another day to catch up with the other 8 then on the actual day, the ones that were slower jumped up and I got 17! I have 5 blastocysts and one 3 day embryo in the freezer, I’m doing a transfer later this year.

It was only a little sleep but was so lovely although when you go home you’ll still feel a little drowsy so hopefully you’ll have a lovely sleep that might too! It’s all very tiring this process yet so much on your mind it does affect your sleep!

Are you looking at doing a fresh transfer? Xxx

Yeah we were moved to Tuesday because they messed up my blood test on Friday but when they did it again on Saturday they got a shock at my levels and moved me back to Monday! Hoping the extra doses I’ve had since then have brought the follicles on!

You got amazing results!! All this time I’ve been hoping to meet the average of 3 but will be just pleased even with one embryo. I’m too scared to get my hopes up too much.

We are hoping for a fresh transfer yeah which all being well would be next Saturday!! I might dodge out of work all week I really don’t care too much and this is my priority! I’m never off so they can’t complain! x

Morning! I’d be surprised if they haven’t moved up but there’s plenty there if they haven’t!

Yes I was pleased. I was a bit concerned about the grading but they assured me if they weren’t good enough they wouldn’t be frozen so keep reminding myself of that!

Yes I’d say to relax as much as possible if you’re having a fresh one, you don’t need to be thinking of work at such an important time.

Wishing you lots of luck today. 🤞 let me know how you get on. Xxx

Hi ya! I'm in tomorrow too!! My first time...so I have no advice to offer 🙂

I found the procedure itself uncomfortable but not unmanageable. I went home afterwards to rest up. Felt nauseous and slept most of the evening but was otherwise fine. Think I was back to normal the next day - I was bloated but put that down to the suppositories that I’d started after the procedure as that didn’t really go away until I stopped taking them. Good luck xx

Good luck honey! Sending lots of baby dust. On my first round I was fine - just a little sore and snoozy. It's the numbers that keep you up rather than the operation :) xx

Good luck lovely. I was soooo nervous before EC too. It really was fine though 😘

I had mine on a Friday so had the weekend to relax which was great. Was a bit sore on the way home from the clinic (I cried all the way home but not sure if that was relief we got a good number if eggs or because I was a bit sore 🙈🤣). The sedation was fine was completely out of it and can't remember a thing but I did apparently chat all the way through 🤷🏼‍♀️ hopefully didn't say anything embarrassing.

One thing I wish i had know before was how sore my ovaries would be a few weeks after the procedure. Apparently it can take up to 12 wks for them to sometimes settle down - mine were sore if my bladder was too full. I was bit worried at first but a quick call to the clinic and was reassured.

Wishing you all the very best. Just take it easy after and make sure your partner looks after you x x x

Thanks everyone. So I instantly passed out and snored my way through the whole thing! The anaesthetist thinks I have sleep apnea as she had to keep my airway open as I kept not breathing. My husband is delighted as he has been saying this for ages and likes to be proven correct!

In other news completely unexpectedly we have 16 eggs! No idea how many are mature and it ups my risk of OHSS but we’re delighted didn’t expect anything like that. So all fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Wow, 16 eggs is a great number.

Hope you are able to get some rest and drink lots of water to try to keep OHSS at bay. Good luck for the first call x

Haha lovely isn’t it 😴I was only sedated but that was plenty!

16 is brilliant! I had slight OHSS too and was gutted to still have to inject after but it eased quite quickly. Peppermint tea also helped.

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow! Xxx

Fingerscrossed34 in reply toCLDxxx

Yeah it was meant to be conscious sedation but I just passed out! My husband asked if that was what conscious was supposed to mean and they laughed and said I clearly just needed a sleep! 😂

Yeah they brought the injections out like it was no big deal so I was a bit gutted about that and the bloating needs to go!! Thanks, I’m not even properly thinking about tomorrow yet just so out of it! x

CLDxxx profile image
CLDxxx in reply toFingerscrossed34

Hahaha 🙊

Yes I felt the same, especially as it was the Cetrotide which is the one I found the most difficult! Id even handed in my sharpe bin 🤦🏻‍♀️

Definitely have some peppermint tea then, I don’t usually like those teas but it did help.

Oh you should sleep well tonight then! The whole process so tiring as it is xx

Wow 16 eggs is a great number!! I ddnt had any pain after my EC but I was so bloated and constipated after, the Dr said it was from the anesthesia and recommended me to take some stool softener which helped but that was my main issue being constipated really sucks , but lots of water helps and prune juice helped too. Good luck you and hope you get lots of lovely embryos 🙏🏼🤗

Fingerscrossed34 profile image
Fingerscrossed34 in reply toKhlokhlo

Ah I’m a wee bit tender but yeah the main pain I felt was one I associate with being a bit constipated. I’ll look forward to that tomorrow then! 🙈 Still quite bloated today hoping it eases off over night. I’ve done a lot of sleeping! x

Wowza !! Amazing numbers!! I'm so nervous for the phone call tomorrow ! Bet you are too!

I’m trying not to think about it and just focus on this piece of good news today. I’ll hopefully sleep in tomorrow and wake up for the phone call so I don’t have too much time to worry. We were expecting like 5 eggs or something so we’re really shocked! How are you feeling? I loved the anaesthetic, the nurse asked if I was ok and I laughed at her while still sleeping and rambled a load of nonsense that I still remember. 😂 My husband knew I was coming back because I was snoring the place down! x

The phone lines were down today so after a stressful hour and over 100 attempts to call the clinic they called us! We have 12 fertilised of which 9 are normal so we are totally over the moon! Keep the good news coming!!
