‘Resetting’ your body after IVF

I’ve had 3 cycles in 6 months this year (but only resulting in 2 transfers) and it’s finally got me, I’m bloody knackered! 😂

The last one, a medicated FET was much tougher for me physically than my stim cycle (I got 37 eggs so thought I was past the worst bit 😂🤦‍♀️) or first transfer. I had insane cramps since I started the progesterone which are still going on and it’s currently 10 days since I stoped all meds. Same with feeling nauseous, exhausted, and my god the daily headaches!!

I had a very odd period compared to last time - very heavy as expected but only for a few hours, since then nothing. I’m still getting weird brown discharge which I presume is from old blood 8 days on (sorry!). Feels like I need to have a proper bleed like last time but for some reason I’m not.

I’m looking in to acupuncture but am a scaredy cat about needles. Think I need a bit of a reset. Maybe a detox, probably a holiday! Any suggestions?? Xx

The acupuncture needles aren't like getting injection s you don't even feel the needles but if you're averse to needles reflexology will help, I had some sessions before my second round of IVF and it definitely helped to lengthen my cycles from 23/35 days to 27-29 days, after my first round of IVF I bled during the 2ww and then my next period started 2 weeks later when it was actually due, second round again bled during the 2ww and then took 7 weeks for my period to come back, every cycle is different and your body will respond in different ways there are so many influences on your hormones and very little that is actually within your control, but can definitely recommend reflexology, and a holiday couldn't hurt either 😜 do you like yoga? That may help to re centre your body and mind and realign everything to get your cycle back on track x

Thanks for your reply - it inspired me to sign up for a beginners yoga class last night 💁‍♀️

And reflexology isn’t really something I’ve looked in to so definitely worth a shot. I don’t know why I can handle the ivf jabs but the thought of acupuncture makes me come over all funny 😂

I think acupuncture helps. Yesterday I had fertility reflexology with felt amazing! Do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better and balanced. You are the priority.

I’ve not tried acupuncture as I’m not a fan of needles either.

I do a type of Luna yoga which is focused on following your bodies’ fertility journey through the lunar month. I thought it was a bit alternative for me when I started in January but now I love it and it’s all about loving your body and listening to it. Think they have them across the country x

Thank you, that sounds perfect! I’m just googling it now 😊

That sounds worse than torture.

I would definitely do something that has absolutely nothing to do with fertility - which accupuncture may have. Although I like accupuncture a lot!

I would go on the holiday of your life! This winter for example we went to Mosambique for 3 weeks just to reset, be yourself and get back to your normal self.

I think we always forget that during our journey!

I’d second going for a few sessions of reflexology it will help your body to clear any waste. Try and see someone who is a reproductive reflexologist if you can xx
