Hi all, I'm conducting a study on Brexit and options for IVF abroad for UK citizens. Do you think BREXIT will impact your IVF abroad? Have your say. I'd love to know your opinion. I'd be very grateful for filling in this short survey. I hope the results will help understand the current situation better.
The survey consists of 6 short multiple-choice questions.
Why would Brexit effect ivf treatment abroad? Unless you plan to settle in those countries , being a health tourist wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference. You go out there as a tourist.
What may impact us is drugs supply here in the uk if we have no deal, there’s certainly going to be “turbulence “ if we crash out, my company is preparing for it and my boss has warned all of us of possible delays for all sorts of things as goods come into the uk,
Hi Elfine, it's a good question. I represent IVF Media Ltd. (Ireland). We support and educate IVF patients and monitor IVF clinic data. The results will be published on one of our sites and in the media. But first we want to collect enough data so the study is reliable.
If you have any more qustions, feel free to reach out to me dorothy @ ivfmedia. org I'm not sure if I can give out my email address here but I try. You can also find me on Linked IN.
It impacts sperm donation. You can’t export sperm into the EU for treatment abroad. Some clinics are also not importing EU sperm into the UK which means patients have much less choice. Regulation has not been decided so clinics have paused import/export services.
Very good point. Thank you for your insight. Personally I think that it will remain like this. UK clinics will not allow importing sperm from the EU. It means less choice, yes. Anna, have you filled the survey form? I'd be grateful for your input.
Hi Olivia, that could be a factor. Do you know what countries the IVF drugs come from? I haven't personally gone through ivf but considering freezing. I guess that would be mediacated as well, yes?
Yes, just social freezing and storage. My issue is my age I'm 39 so not getting any younger. I'm just wondering when Brexit happens then the cost of IVF might go up, then the cost of IVF abroad might go up too. What do you think? I'd appreciate if you share your view in the survey.
