I have just had egg collection on my 2nd cycle and have had to have freeze all due to thin and uneven uterine lining. They have referred me for a hystereoctomy to look for adhesions. I saw a gynaecologist earlier this year who said it wasn’t needed as I hadn’t had surgery or D and C (never has a miscarriage or abortion etc) so highly unlikely I have scarring. Just wondered if anyone else has uterine adhesions and how this affected their IVF? I’m so worried that I have these lovely top quality embryos but won’t be able to carry them. X

Uterine Adhesions
Previous infections (sexually transmitted or otherwise) can cause scarring.
I had a terrible infection after giving birth to my daughter 10 years ago (naturally conceived) and years later I had a hystereoscopy and laparoscopy which found adhesions and scar tissue in my abdomen which had also blocked both my tubes. They was able to unblock one tube and removed all excess tissue which resembled (from the pictures) bubblegum around my womb and ovaries.
Fingers crossed they are able to treat the issue with this procedure (it was painless tbh)
Consultant told us we should be able to conceive naturally again which did not happen for us so here we are 3 years later undergoing our first IVF cycle. So far the journey has gone smoothly minus the stress and anxiety. We are now 10dp5dt and getting BFP’s.
Best of luck to you x
Oh wow congratulations fingers crossed for you. xxx thanks so much for reply. I guess I will know more after the procedure, were they able to remove the scarring with the Hy-co-sy or did you have to have quite a lot of surgery? I’m 40 so time isn’t on my side really x
Thanks so much after 7yrs ttc there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel.
As that was done on the NHS there was a little wait but otherwise it’s just the one day surgery procedure... My stomach was filled with air and they made small incisions to go in with a camera.
It does bring on your period and leave you a bit gassy 💨for a few days.
I had a hysteroscopy to remove uterine adhesions. Consultant was able to remove it and I'm waiting for my next fresh cycle to start at the end of June. None of my previous Ivf transfers have worked so I'm hoping the next one makes a difference. The hysteroscopy was fine and nothing to worry about. Just felt gassy afterwards and was fine to come home after a few hours. Good luck with yours
I have nothing in my medical history to explain why I have adhesions but I had quite a lot that were treated with a hysteroscopy earlier this year. Consultant wasn’t sure they’d got rid of it all but my lining got thick enough for FET and it hadn’t before. I had a positive test last month after my first FET although I’m pretty sure I’m miscarrying now - scan tomorrow to confirm. I’m worried they didn’t treat it all properly but will have to wait and find out. The hysteroscopy itself was fine - I wouldn’t have even been able to have a transfer without it. Good luck xx
My consultant recommended waiting a couple of cycles. I had my hysteroscopy at the start of April and I'm due to start my meds early July.
I’m kinda in the same boat as you. I’ve been ttc for 4 years now. I have a 8year old (conceived naturally) with c -sec del. I’ve donated my eggs , had egg collection and FET and NONE of those times did they pick up on my uterus adhesion.
My first cycle failed and now they have mentioned the adhesions at our review appt. the consultant is putting it down to the emb rather than the adhesion (uterus attached to tummy after c sec) or implantation issues.
The thing is you embryo maybe a high grade but it’s doesnt mean it’s abnormal. All my 8 Frosties were aa or ab and we put 3 of the best ones in and both didn’t take. That could be because they may have been abnormal. Now, that we decided to do the PGD testing on the rest only 1 can come back normal. I would seriously look into doing that. It is costly but I’d rather try to optimise A positive outcome than have a bfn x
Hi I have been researching Genetic testing especially with my age, however I think it really depends how many embryos I have left to freeze. If I have a lot like yourself I would certainly consider it, I guess if I just have a few embryos it’s a decision on if it is worth the cost or just transfer. It’s so tough, stress over financial costs is crazy at the moment
Hi, please don’t give up hope. I had uterine adhesions following an appendicitis. I had a surgery a few years ago and recently had frozen embryos transfer. I am now 31 weeks pregnant. Things can happen. I wish you all the best. Take care xxx
That’s amazing news! So happy to hear this. Can I ask how long after your uterus adhesion surgery did you have your FET ? X
Well if i well remember it was 3 months after that I did my first ivf attempt. this was a few years ago and was part of the investigation regarding our fertility issues. Then I had my first fresh ivf cycle with Isci. It failed. Then I had a second one and felt pregnant but miscarriage. Then eventually to cut a long story short, I did this FET which worked (with egg donors due to my age). I wish you all the best of luck x
