Positive bhcg but no sac at 5 weeks first IVF cycle

Anyone experienced high bhcg (1200) but no sac at five weeks? The hospital are worried about ectopic but my IVF clinic said you might not see anything until 7weeks so wait for scan unless I get abdo pain or bleeding.

Anyone had similar experience? Looking for some hope.

Hi HM. That is why I prefer to wait to do scans at 7weeks.l think they’ve given you the correct advice. Keeping everything crossed for you. Diane

Thank you that's reassuring!

Most places won’t scan you until 6 weeks at the earliest. If you’ve had no bleeding, hopefully it’s just too early and your 7 weeks scan will be fine! X

That's good to know. I'll keep my fingers crossed everything will be fine! Thank you for the reply xx

Usually the gestational sac is visible between 1500 to 2000. Everything is so small at this stage. Usually you would be brought back in a couple of days to check again. But more usually you wouldn't even have a scan until 6 or 7 weeks even to avoid just this worry. Fingers crossed for you but please dont worry more. Xx

Hi...

In some cases they do not see anything with 1200 bHCG.

If you’ve had no bleeding or no pain hopefully it’s just too early and your next scan will be fine!

I had 3 ectopics in the past... I wouldn't wait 2 weeks if I were you... i would want to continue with the blood test to see the evolution of your bHCG and perhaps a scan @ 6 weeks!

A ruptured ectopic pregnancy can be a life threatening situation!

Good luck!

i had a high bcg like shows at 5 weeks a scan because of bleeding saw nothing, the doc at ER asked me if i was sure i was prego. At 6.5 weeks there saw two sacks one with a heartbeat the other with nothing. the empty sack had a baby inside and a heartbeat at a scan at 8 weeks. so i think you should not worry at 5 weeks. listen to your doctors.
