Things I have learned ... anyone else learned things on this crazy journey?

I’ve been reflecting today on my journey so far. Things I have learned (or had affirmed)....

-I‘m stronger than I knew I could be

-my partner is more loving and generous than I knew

-we don’t all get what we deserve/get spared the things we don’t

-I can cope without (or with a lot less of) the little ‘treats’ I thought I needed to get through the day (coffees, wines, sugar etc)

-some friends are worth having and some are not

-saying no is okay

-I can be kind to myself and I’m worth being kind to

-some things are just beyond my control and doing everything right does not necessarily pay off

-always show compassion for those behaving oddly -who knows what they’re going through.

(anyone else had any revelations?!)

I think this is great! One thing this journey does is make you realise how strong you can be 💪🏼

Yes very much resonating. Also have learnt not to be in control, that there’s a force beyond the visible, that there’s such a thing as timing and acceptance is key.

Those are good ones! I don’t think I’ve reached acceptance yet... something to work towards. X

Great learnings. I do love the one about the partner too. This journey is long and hard and our partners go through it all too. Weirdly (or maybe not) I think this has actually brought us closer together.

One thing i would add to the list is something I had not really appreciated at all. Even in fully fertile couples when ttc, when they try at the right time of the month etc, the chance of success is 1 in 3. It makes total sense to me, and really helped me when I went to de, after the first failed. Here I am now adding to the proof of that, 3rd round, coming up to 35 weeks. X

Nice thoughts.

I did only one round of ivf (currently 17 weeks pregnant).

Had some surprises (did some research on my own and got some papers / answers for the doctor, but had no close friend who had done it).

Was very calm in some period and very anxious in others.

Got to appreciate a lot that I was so lucky from the first try (39 years, 1 ovary, I have some genetic issues on the 23rd (sexual) chromosome with risk in case the baby would be a boy, did not do pgs testing, did prenatal testing (healthy boy), etc).

Good luck to all!

Hi.

Thanks!

I am from Romania and did ivf in my country. The clinic’s name is Columna, in Bucharest.

Good luck!

I think this is so true! Especially to be kind to ppl behaving oddly. I am far more sympathetic and tolerant to this now. You never know what ppl are going through. I have also learnt my husband is more kind, generous and supportive than I ever thought and it has, in fact, made our relationship stronger! Xxx
