Hi there. Started ivf last Monday. Finding it very overwhelming. Doses increased on Friday as follicles small. Also started on ganirelix on Friday and finding that the site is very red and stings for about 45 mins after. Has anyone else found this? Thanks

Pain after injections
Hiya 😊
I didn’t have the same as what you’re having but I had down regulation injections and found the injection site to be red/ itchy and sometimes bruised for a while afterwards. The whole process is quite overwhelming my lovely but keep going 😊 xx
Thank you that’s reassuring
Hi Yorkshire, I'm sorry you're struggling, IVF is such a hard process to go through, both physically and emotionally. You aren't alone, most of us feel overwhelmed at times by all of it. Some of the injection medicines can cause site pain and irritatation I'm afraid... some are worse than others and bloody sting. A couple of tricks I've come across that might make it a little less uncomfortable - numbing the skin with an ice pack for a good few minutes beforehand, and also pressing the needle itself quite firmly into your skin before pressing the plunger (the deeper the injection the further away from your dermis the medicine sits, and causes less irritation). I found this lessened the pain quite a bit. Hope it helps you too and sending you positive thoughts xx
Hi. I did Cetrotide. The injection area was red and hard for some time after the injection (gone by morning). First time the reation was stronger, then it got better (still red and hard). I always alternated areas, not to inject in the same place. Tried ice, holding the needle in a few seconds after finalising the injection, but did not help too much. Good luck!
