Has anyone had injections rather than pessaries? Finding them messy and not sure if I’d prefer the injections I really can’t do them the other way tried this morning and it was no entry so to speak! 🙈 anyone any experience?

Only used the pessaries. If you insert them after a bath and shower when you're relaxed it is easier.

I've only had the pessaries and this time I had to switch to rectal for a couple of days (cycolgest im using) and it's sooo much better mess wise. Try persevering, sorry if tmi🙈 but if you squat down to the ground slip it gently up without putting finger inside and stand up with finger still in place....it seems to do the rest itself. Injections aren't given commonly as apparently they are pretty painful.xx

Thank you 😝 I’ll try and give it another go. My clinic have warned the injections can be painful i think I have a fairly high pain threshold im just worried too that people said the pessaries can cause bleeding and after a miscarriage at 11+5 previously I can only image the panic that will descend if I discover blood. I panicked when I had a bleed on the way to egg collection, just trying to reduce the chance and irritating the lining. Thanks for the advice xx

I am on progesterone injections. The actual injection doesn’t hurt ( I feel it slightly more than belly injections) it’s the soreness afterward that gives the injection it’s bad reputation. My bum is definitely sore ( it feels really bruised even though there are no bruises) and I have a knot on one side that is soar ( this is common) . That being said, it is manageable and I find that when I am moving around it hurts less. My last cycle I was on presseries, but found them so messy. If I had to choose between the two, I would choose soreness ( injections) over messy ( presseries). But, if I get a BFP, I may look into changing to presseries at some point later on, as I don’t know if my bum would have any feeling left after 13 weeks of injections 😂

Can you inject yourself with them progesterone if it has to go in your bottom?

Hi Midge8, we used pressaries the first time and then switched to injections. Like you say the pressaries are so messy and I wasn't sure if I was absorbing enough progesterone. I was terrified of the injections (you use the big needle to inject) but actually it doesn't hurt. Like jade04 says my bum felt sore and a bit lumpy after but I still preferred them over the mess. They are also cheaper which is a nice bonus! Our clinic said there's a trend back to injections and away from pressaries. Hope you get on alright. Good luck with however you decide. X

Thanks, our injections wouldn’t be covered on our funding so would be extra but I have suffered in the past from really nasty water infections and the pessaries are now making me sore so might ask the clinic again about the injections. X

Worth a try I think and they don't cost that much. Good luck xxx

Had them both. I’m big advocate of injections although they might be painful they better! My first baby I believe was conceived due to PIO injections.

With my current pregnancy I’m using both pessaries +injections that’s hell of the annoyance but seems it helped me as I’m 12+1pregnant again and will be coming off from then within next couple days!

Good luck xxx

Hello I was given pessaries first but after egg collection they changed my prescription and gave me injections so I’ve been on progesterone injections for over two weeks now and as jade04 said they don’t hurt as much when you have them injected but it hurts after and could leave you with painful knots but isn’t it that bad. I’m also taking estrogen apart from the injections.

I don’t know what’s best though
