Hi Guys,
I was on here some time ago and I wanted to write just in case my story gives someone hope and/or helps give some ideas for their own situation.
I had a journey that was shorter than a lot of people on this forum and realise how fortunate I am to be in this position.
We were trying for a baby, and did all the tests and nothing showed as abnormal, had MRI scans for suspected septum in womb, HSG with seemingly one slow-ish moving tube....but nothing major showing up for a cause, this was the case for both myself and my partner.
We went on the waiting list for IVF, and to be honest I was hopeful. My numbers were quite ok for my age so they were keen to have gentle stimulation in order to collect the eggs.
In the meantime we went to a fertility nutritionist which was a real game changer - giving us something to focus on and get really fit and healthy for the IVF. Excluding gluten, BPA free, all natural cosmetics, and foods that could boost fertility, along with a plan for during the IVF cycle with protein shakes that could boost my chances. This part I really enjoyed and we were both very healthy by the time the procedure came around.
We did not have the results that we would have wanted - only 2 embryos formed after the procedure. With my numbers, I had hoped for lots of embryos and lots of tries for implantation and for the future.
So, we went ahead and implanted the best embryo and had the dreaded TWW, keeping to the strict diet and trying to stay relaxed....but we had a negative result....It was only our first try so even though it was devastating - we knew that this was common. I had lost faith in our clinic so started to research a clinic in Greece to maybe have a frozen transfer with the remaining embryo....
While all of this was going on, I had my bleed after the TWW, and a few weeks after I wanted to check when my periods would resume, I tried ovulation sticks and seemed like I was getting positive ovulation every day....so thought my period would come as expected...
I went away with my family, and felt like I was healing pretty well, I flew back early for my followup appointment with the fertility clinic about my frozen embryo.
But my period never came when I was expecting, so about 5 days later I was getting annoyed as we wanted to schedule the frozen transfer - then I peed on something I thought was an ovulation stick or a pregnancy test, I wasn't sure, and I got a positive result! I did about 5 more pregnancy tests and indeed it was positive.
I didn't believe it honestly until our 20 week scan!
I now have a 3 month old beautiful baby girl. I am not posting a picture in case this is difficult for some people.
So, I am writing for anyone with unexplained fertility in case some of my story helps.
2 things I think were total game changers were the change in diet, taking away all the chemicals from my food and cosmetics, also ubiquinol, fish oil and tons of vitamins to stay in good health.....I do believe it re-set my body.
Also, having intercourse throughout the month, not just when I was supposed to be ovulating. I was successful at the beginning of the month, probably because my ovulation was out of time due to the IVF cycle....
I did the endometrial scratch - but I do not believe it made a difference.
Obviously something triggered my body after the IVF, so in some cases this may happen for other people, so keep trying naturally.
These are only my experiences and may help unexplained infertility cases.
Best of luck to everyone! The stories and support on here helped me so much when I was on my IVF journey.
Love Nelly & Little Nelly.
