I’m having a bit of an overhaul of all cosmetics and make up etc as I want to go as natural as poss and chemical free etc. So many brands seem to have ingredients in their products that I’ve just realised that I may not want to put on my face/ body! Worse case is that some of them seem to be linked with poss infertility issues. With a view that I’m doing everything I can to make myself as healthy and ‘clean’ as I can, I was wondering if people had any advice about any brands they use that are chemical free and natural?
I’m hoping there must be at least a few people on here that have looked at this with regards to fertility issues??!
Thanks all 😃

With chemicals you mean preservatives, I guess. Everything in nature is made of chemicals and natural and not dangerous do not necessarily correlate (there is a lot of deadly natural stuff out there...). There is no way to cleanse out toxin or whatsoever out of your body except for by using the loo. Healthy food, enough water and excercise will have a waaaay bigger effect on your body than any cosmetic products unless you are sensitve against any of the ingredients. Body shop, lush and brands like neutrogena etc are supposed to be good. There are also books how to make your own creams and make-up, maybe that could be interesting for you.
Hi Tigr thanks for your response. Parabens are chemicals that are often found in cosmetics and something that I may be choosing not to use in my products going forwards. I do already have a healthy diet, drink water and exercise and agree that this is key.
Thanks. Lots for Tropic now. I love the look of all the products. I want to see and try the products though without having to be an ambassador. Have you done the pamper experience? x
Look on the tropic website for a local ambassador, get in touch and they’ll be able to offer you a ‘try before you buy’. If there’s something that I like the look of, my ambassador let’s me try it for a few days before deciding. I use their deodorant (amazing!), skincare and shampoo & conditioner.x
Check out online store Content beauty. They are all clean! You can also search ‘natural’ on blog into the gloss. I use uk brand Evolve, Indie Lee, Drunk Elephant, Trilogy for skin care and cosmetics I get from Content.... there is so much good stuff now have fun xxxx
Hi, I have been using a brand called pai, its organic and vegan. I have quite bad skin and I'm really pleased with the results, I've been using it since Xmas. Good luck xx
Hi Hifer, Arbonne are a brand that I use now, sold a bit like Avon so you would need to find your area rep just google their website and I am sure there will be something on there. But they are pretty much as clean and safe as you will find, also Vegan and don't use Palm oil as an added bonus. I have skin care and make up from them and to be honest it is pretty good. xx
Actually I have heard of this brand but don't know much about them. Will definitely give them a google. Good to know about the palm oil too. Thanks a lot. xx
My friend found them after she had a double mastectomy from BRCA gene testing. I know they do not use anything with Parabens in as this was one of her criteria. Needless to say when I looked at what I was putting on me I changed pretty quick. However I think the body shop do some products as well that are pretty good. good luck x
Thank you. Yes it's like a giant realisation has just dawned on me and I want to chuck everything out and start again!! There are lots of mentions now for Body Shop on this thread so will def visit that too. Thanks so much for your input. x
Body Shop are really good at looking after their customers. Every time I buy something in their store, I get money off either through a promotion or rewards from my card. I also use Faith in Nature hair care. Elemis have also just launched a vegan Superfood range. x
Hi. I’ve been using products with ingredients that are rated 1 or 2 on the EWG website. I have some products from aromatic, dr bronners , tropic and Dr Haukasan. One thing to be wary of is just because a brand has some products with ok ingredients doesn’t mean their entire line is ok. I’ve been checking each individual item. Took me a while but happy with all the products now. X
Ah great tip thanks. Gosh it’s a bit of a mine field! Yes I think people seem to be selecting different products from different brands to create their own range if you like. Glad it’s worked for you 😀x
Good question!!! I decided to try and reduce phthalates and parabens. Spent about an hour in Boots reading the ingredients of all the products like a crazy person. I went with shampoo, conditioner and body lotion from Palmers. Clinique products are paraben an phthalate free. Neil’s yard seemed ok. For hand soap I have started using Method.
It felt like hard work choosing new products but now I have found some I like, it’s easy to stick with.
Thanks so much. I think that’s the thing isn’t it? You need to find what you like and go from there. I think a lot of people, like you, have made different choices for different products. Have been so amazed at all the recommendations I’ve had so now I can go away and research them all 😃. Thanks again xx
Hiya, I started this same process in Jan. I refer to the soil associations certified list of organic skincare, hair care & home-care brands. soilassociation.org/organic...
Skincare brands are not regulated in the same way as food is so they can pretty much claim what they like - this includes natural and organic claims. With the soil Associations list of approved brands - you can be assured of truthful organic claims & transparency as they wouldn’t be certified by the soil association otherwise. Brands I like are freshious, odelique, Daniel Galvin junior, powerful organic, Herbfarmacy and elirose, for homecare I use kinn, ecover and method. X
You can use cosdna.com You can search for any product and it shows you the ingredients and where or not they are safe. I make sure that all of my makeup and skincare don't have any ingredients that score more than 3. I hope this helps.
skincarisma.org/ is a really handy site! I use it because I have rosacea so like to check the ingredients in products before I buy. You can search for an item or copy and paste it's ingredient list in, it will then give you a break down of what it's good/bad for, if it's silicone free etc. - might be worth a look! 🙃
It seems that the topic of organic cosmetics, which are not tested on animals, is now especially actual. I think you all have already seen the sensational video "Save Ralph", which reveals all the cruelty of cosmetics manufacturers from the face of the rabbit on which it is tested. If a defenseless animal suffers from cosmetics that we use for rejuvenation or beauty, should we use them at all? I have already abandoned the usual mass-market cosmetics for a couple of years and use only home cosmetics and restorative massages. Instead of a pile of jars of expensive creams, I use homemade masks made of aloe vera, scrubs based on coffee and honey, and facial yoga. Great facial exercises that I do every day I found on faceyoga.com.
You have so many answers and I think you found what you wanted but I am using bellapierre cosmetic, it's 100% mineral and there is no chemicals in it ! To me it does the job...! I also use an app called YUKA and it's good, it will tell you if product has endocrine disruptor or other stuff like that.
