Embryo grading

The clinic have just phoned 2 of our embryos have made it to freeze, but if I’m honest the embryologist has upset me this morning :( she said well we’ve frozen the 2 we thought we’d give them the benefit of the doubt. They are graded AC and BC :( it doesn’t sound promising. She really confused me I don’t even know if she meant they were AC or BC how many days, she said they reached blastocyst. I’ve done worse this round than my last round of ivf banking on this little 5bb xx

I was always led to believe that any that make blastocyst and freeze are good enough for a shot at a viable pregnancy. And don’t forget your 5bb is a brilliant grade xx

Thank you lovely, even my partner said her voice in the phone was so pessimistic! Even if she said the others have made it but we froze the best of the lot. She was like oh well give them the benefit of the doubt we’ve frozen them 🙄 poured all my health, money and hope into though embryos like 🙈 xxx

Bit of a disgusting way to treat you really. I’m sorry she didn’t have any tact or empathy. You have two fighters there as far as I’m concerned but hopefully you won’t need them anyway 🤞🏻🤞🏻 xx

Try not to feel too down sweetheart. Our doctor told us that neither of our embryos were good quality and suggested transferring both as it would give us a higher chance of one sticking. Well, they can’t have been that bad because I’m now eight weeks pregnant with twins! Just try and stay positive lovely, keeping everything crossed for you 😊🤞🏼💕 xxx

It would be so much easier if the doctors didn’t mention grades as I honestly think if they’ve reached blastocyst stage then they’re definitely where they need to be, regardless of how they have been graded. My 4aa totally failed to implant yet we are currently pregnant with our little 3bc. As Tugsgirl said, they wouldn’t freeze them if they aren’t good enough. Wishing you lots of luck 🤞🏼 xx

Hi there, it's good news nonetheless the grade of the embryo. You need to feel all happy and optimistic about it. The grading is done based on a lot of things...including blastomeres. A means even blastomeres and no fragmentation. For B it becomes uneven but no to negligible fragmentation. Both the C is like moderate fragmentation so I belive it's gonna be fine. I know clinically the count of viable good grade embryo but everything comes down to luck. Iif you look at real life scenarios.... women find IVF success with average grade single transfer and some doesn't even make it to success even with AA grades. So don't just think your chances are thin because it's just AC and BC embryos. I wish you all the luck in the world to find success with IVF soon!
