Microgynon - side effects

I feel silly even asking this as these pills are probably the most easiest in terms of whats to come in the process. Has anybody else had horrible side effects from taking these pills? I wasn't expecting to have side effects as such considering its a contraceptive pill. When I began taking them I was psychically sick and within hours of consuming I have really bad headaches, fatique and nausea and im finding it difficult to concentrate when all I want to do is go to bed and curl up.

I've did some research online and it seems like others are saying the same thing.

Its made me wonder why the clinics only offer one type of pill? considering people react differently to certain brands.

Yeah. I absolutely hated microgynon. It's a cheap contraceptive pill and one of the first prescribed. Go back to your GP and explain it's not working for you.

It can take a while to find a pill that works for you so don't just settle with what the GP gives you first time. Try another for a few months until you find one that works.

All the best.

I should have probably mentioned im only on it for a short while as part of IVF treatment, thats why I haven't went back to the clinic until now to question the side effects. I'm just surprised they issue this one mainly considering most people are getting these side effects. Many thanks for the response :) x

Hi Militarywife. Most of the hormones used, including this one work on the pituitary gland in the brain. This is why you ge the symptoms you describe. Try drinking extra water, which sometimes helps. Hope it soon settles. Diane

Thank you for the advice Diane, the clinic recommended I start taking it later at night too which has eased some of the side effects.

Hi Militarywife. That's a perfect idea, so at least you get to sleep through some of them. Good luck! Diane
