"Quality of embryos is mixed" What does this mean???

Hi all, I had EC on Friday, they collected 6 eggs. Phone call yesterday said that 4 had fertilised. Phonecall today says that they have all divided which is good, but the quality at the moment is mixed. She is unsure if they want to transfer tomorrow or Wednesday. They will have another look in the morning and ring me to let me know, but I am provisionally booked in for 12.45pm tomorrow to do the transfer. What has worried me, is when they say 'the quality is mixed'. I have no idea what to think about that and am now feeling very uncertain about it all :-(

I am not sure, but it would help if they give you the number of cells per embryo (for example, 4 or 6 or 8). That can determine how well they are developing.

Anything can happen in this process, but it only takes one. Just be as positive as you can. Most important thing for transfer is that you are relaxed and ready.

As someone who is also waiting for embryo results, I feel you.

Good luck ❤️

Thank you. I wish I had asked on the phone as to what they mean but my heart had just sunk and all I could stay was "ok". I should have made my husband answer the phone... I am getting so nervous waiting for the phone calls each day, this is by far the most nerve wracking part of the IVF process so far for me. I don't know how people (and hopefully me!) will cope in the 2ww! Xx You are all amazing xx

Wishing you the best of luck hun. Sorry they weren’t more clear on the phone. But you could take that as you’ve still got some good quality one to transfer?

Good luck and I hope you get the answers you need xxx

Try not to worry. It will just mean that you have some higher grade embryos that look promising, like they'll develop well (maybe to blastocyst stage) and some others that are looking less good quality and may not develop that well.

It was similar for me. I only had 3 eggs fertilised and 2 looked good and the third not so great. Well the third stopped developing and we ended up with 2 blastos. Only one implanted but I got my baby in the end :)

Wishing you loads of luck!
