Enough Follicles?

Hi ladies. I'm currently on my 12th day of Menopur and feel like a whale, bloated and uncomfortable

The clinic initially thought that my egg collection would be today, however my scan last Fri only showed 5 follicles that were nearly ready. I had another scan today expecting the go ahead however there are now only 4. 2 that are measuring 21mm and another 2 that are 18mm. They have been waiting for a group of smaller ones to catch up but they have hardly grown and are only around 11mm.

The clinic have told me to carry on with the injections for now but this could put the larger ones at risk of over maturing.

I'm slightly disappointed as my first scan revealed 27 follicles so i was expecting more to be mature by now. Realistically, how many follicles should i expect to be harvested? 4 seems too little.

Hey I only got 6 follicles and I had to stim for 19 days, however I got 2 blasts out of that. It really is about quality not quantity, try to stay positive. I used a hot water bottle near the end,I'm not sure if it did anything, but it made me feel like I was doing something to help things along.Good luck xo

Hi MissN. I can fully understand your worries, you may get some more follicles to develop, but I feel it may be at the risk of losing the 4 goods ones you have now - my thoughts. I think you are going to have to trust your specialist and hopefully a decision will be made sooner rather than later, whether to carry on with the decent ones you have or not.
