Very late Period

Hey! Feeling very confused!

I’m currently on day 55 of a usual 26 day cycle. All pregnancy tests have been negative and then today I get a very positive ovulation test. No idea what my body is doing. I’m hypothyroid too so am having a blood test today to check My thyroid function. Anyone else had this? Waiting for day 1 to arrive for a FET cycle!

That is pretty long for a period. If you have had a positive Ov today then I would expect your period to come in a couple of weeks. It may or may not be related to your thyroid so always good to have this checked, you want this under 2.5 for conception. How long ago was your last IVF cycle? My second bleed after my failed FET took ages to appear!xx

Hello! Thanks for your reply. Yes it all seems to have gone to pot as my cycles are usually really short so think I may poss be over medicated?? My last ivf was 5 years ago and our storage runs out in April unless we pay again so wanting to have the FET done sooner rather than later, very frustrating xx

Hi Sarah. How annoying! Have you spoken to your clinic to see whether yo could have a bleed induced? Hope your thyroid result is OK and you have medication to control it. Fingers crossed all soon falls into place, Diane

Thank you! Yes my clinic have advised me to have the blood test again for my thyroid so they can look at my dose and will take it from there. Don’t understand why I am suddenly ovulating so late on??? Feel like I have been waiting forever xx

I had fairly normal cycle lengths my whole life, sometimes 35 rather than 28 days but never any longer and then out of the blue I had a 56 day cycle then a 70 day cycle then a 58 day cycle. I was given norethisterone to start my period so I could go on Clomid.

So in my experience this can happen. I never found out why.

It’s just typical af doesn’t show up when you actually want it to!!!

Hope you work it out. xxx

Hi Sarah, I had freakishly long cycle recently and it turned out I had a cyst on one ovary, nothing dangerous, an imploded follicle, I believe! This can put periods out of whack. I just had to wait for it to be flushed out naturally which took a couple of months. If you've ovulated now everything should be underway, you could ask for a scan to see if you have a cyst - they will check this before any treatment anyway. Best of luck x

Thank you, yes I did wonder about cysts too as I had one before but the GP was so uninterested it left me a bit deflated. Yes I think the clinic want to scan once day 1 arrives xx
