This is the first time I have written a post but feel like I need to make sure where not the only ones going though this. Where now finally at an IVF clinic after ttc for over 5 years. Our Dr has now decided my husband need to go urology about the high white cells in his semen analysis but we have now made two appointment and each time Urologist has cancelled the appointment saying it’s not appropriate for the best clinical out come. Has anyone else had this? What was the next step? Waiting for the Dr to come back to us with a plan but want to be ready for whatever he comes back with.
Thank you for listening

I have never been through such a situation. This must be very confusing for you. I would, however, suggest that you visit a different clinic and get a second opinion on this. Mainly, because it is not a good idea to completely come to halt. Good luck to you. I hope your IVF process goes smoothly. Just be strong! Hoping for the best.
Go back to your dr and them what’s happening. When my son in law went to see the urologist, he told him he would never be a father after his tests. I told him to not stop and take it further. My daughter and son in law now have a little boy who is nearly 3 and are due another baby boy in the next 9 days . Good luck xxxx
Hi Markham. Sorry to hear that he is being messed about. Perhaps he would be better off seeing an andrologist who specilises in male problems and fertility. On the surface of things, it seems as if he may have some sort of infection that needs treating, I don't know, but raised white cells usually indicates something like that. Good luck with it all. Hi markham my husband’s SA done by our IVF clinic came back in November with round cells (couldn’t tell if they were dead sperm or white blood cells). Our NHS tests didn’t pick this up. My husband then went to a private urologist to get it checked out fearing the worst (life threatening illnesses etc). Thankfully after more tests and a physical exam the urologist doesn’t think he’s dying! But couldn’t get to the bottom of the issue, so recommended yet more supplements and lifestyle tweaks and a barrage of antibiotics to treat any infection if that was the cause.
I think the standard NHS tests focus on women and despite my husbands first nhs SA coming back with 0% morphology he was not referred for any further investigations which looking back makes me livid!! If i knew then what i know now I’d be chasing up each week pushing for more investigations for my husband.
I think the urologist needs to explain the science behind his decision that it’s not appropriate for the best clinical outcome. I had to get our ivf doctor to interpret our urology results and talk us through the science of what impact do these round cells have on IVF etc. Happy to talk further with you on private message. But most of all good luck getting the answers you need xx
Hi thank you for replying it sounds very to similar to us, my husband has loads of test done a gynaecologist (which gave us the wrong pot over and over again) they said he has low sperm nothing about high white bloody cells we only found this out at the clinic. So we managed to get 6 weeks worth of antibiotics while we was waiting for urology appointment and that seem to have help his count. Our clinic called yesterday and gave us the shocking new they want to start treatment 😳😳 (thought we going to have a fight on our hands) and apologies but urology don’t deal with mens infertility now. Good job we didn’t just sit and wait. So they have said husband will do 2 samples in on egg collection day to try get as many sperm as they can to match my eggs and if that doesn’t work they will go in for removal of sperm. Was very shock with this phone called and still can’t work out if it was really or not.
Yeah very similar!! My husband is still on his antibiotics and won’t be retested until end January so we won’t know if there’s any improvement until then. But I’m a bit more hopeful now that I’ve heard your OHs results improved.
It’s wonderful news about the clinic calling and you starting treatment. We have to fight for so much already it’s nice when something goes your way. When do you start treatment? I’m really excited for you!!
Where looking at starting treatment end of January could of started next week but my job is very stressful in January so husband talked me into starting end January when things have calmed down at work. I wante d to jump right in now as we have the go ahead but he’s got the sensible head. Which is a good thing but hate it when he’s right 😊!
Really home your husband sample improve after all the antibiotics finger crossed 🤞
