What’s happening now?

Hi All,

So last month our first round of IVF got cancelled as a cyst was discovered on my ovary the week before we were due to go. I bled heavily for 2 weeks.y period was due yesterday but so far no sign except maybe a little bit of cramps & really tired but then have been mega busy at work? Is this to be expected after all the hormones plus the cyst & the bleeding?

All these years I’ve longed to miss my period but now I just don’t know where I am 🙄 xx

My first thought was 🤔 have you done a pregnancy test? 🤞 messing around down their and hormones may delay your natural cycle (I waited 35 days for my period when I was due to start my treatment, much longer than usual) fingers crossed for you xx

I did attempt one last night but it was in one of those clear blue monitor things & I couldn’t get it to work. I’m too scared to do another one for the disappointment. I’m sure it’s just my hormones messing about xx

A few days late is probably understandable because of the reasons you state in your post. If it didn’t show within a week or two then maybe you could consult your gp. Hopefully she shows soon though and then you can start moving forward xx

An ovarian cyst can cause hormone imbalance, hence the irregularities in your period. If the cyst doesn't go away with your next period, consider to have it drilled.

During my second NHS cycle, my doctors didn't even realise I had an ovarian cyst in my right ovary, even though I've been telling I had pain since after my first cycle. Despite being asleep, they didn't even try reach my ovary, and retrieved only 5 eggs from the left one - I had 11 during my first cycle. From those 5, I got one embryo, which was transferred, and resulted in an ectopic pregnancy, in my right tube. I can't say if having a swollen ovary made my tube suck the embryo in, but still, it did happen - and it was painful, physically, and mentally.

The cyst was drained during my third cycle (in Norway, bye bye NHS), and my period got immediately back to normal - the fresh embryo transfer didn't work. But the transfer from frozen did stick, even if it's still early days... XXXXX

Good luck!
