Hi all! I had a failed IVF cycle at the end of March with a withdrawal bleed then and am still waiting on my period to arrive.
For someone who normally has a 25-26 day cycle reaching 41 days is very odd. With 4 very clear negative pregnancy tests I’m sure it’s not delayed for the reasons I want. I have never missed one.
I understand it’s the disruption of the drugs and likely an anovulatory cycle but when should I expect it? A small part of me has this fear that I’ve just become menopausal:/ I’m waiting to start another cycle based on it for dates so it’s not without stress.
Thankyou in advance for any reassurance!

I had a 55 day cycle after one of my failed rounds. Coupled with hot flushes I was convinced it was menopause. It was not! Just a dodgy cycle, it will show up at some point. It's just very frustrating 😒
I also have this fear too!!! We had a failed cycle in November and following this my cycle length has varied but only by a few days (usually 28days) I’m not on cycle day 38. I had some spotting 2 weeks ago. However when I look back my longest cycle was 55days and this seems to happen approx once every 12 months - I’ve linked it previosuly to having covid or the covid vaccine as it’s always been after this, however this time I haven’t had covid or a covid vaccine. I’m now wondering if this is menopause approaching. I’m 32 with really low AMH. I keep symptom spotting but I know it’s not delayed because of the reason I’m hoping for. Hope your ok xx
Oh I’ve defs heard of stress including sickness/vaccines causing delays to period… once I remember mine came late to avoid my birthday- I was delighted with that delay!😂
My understanding of menopause is that it occurs over years and periods pitter out gradually but if your going through IVF then I don’t think we can read too much into a delay as the hormone drugs will be having such an effect.
It’s awful waiting on it when every other month I’m praying it not to arrive. Hope you’re doing okay. This is such a hard slog!
It really is such a hard slog honestly you’re right I used to wish it wouldn’t come every month and now I’m like hello where are you! Haha!! Wishing it to come!!
I hope ur right about the menopause and I am wrong! Can’t figure out what’s going on with my body.
I'm currently on a 52 day cycle after my last mc and get transfer in Feb. Had a bleed after it lasting two weeks and now I am in the waiting game.It will come eventually so just settle in. I was hoping to try naturally ony holiday next week but unfortunately my dates now won't match. Very frustrating!!
Hopefully mine and yours will come soon and we can both move on!!
hey, please don’t worry I had the same problem. I waited 2 and 1/2 months for a period with no luck!! It was definitely due to the drugs from the IUI/IVF. Anyway, I told my clinic about it and they prescribed me tablets to take over the course of 7 days and when the course ended, I started my period within a few days!! I can have a look for the name of the tablets if you like? I think they cost around £9. I’m in a private clinic also hoping to conceive ☺️x
I had failed fresh transfer in February. My first cycle in March was 34 days and this month was 29 days I have a 25/26 day period like you . I’ve actually decided to hold off my frozen embie until I go back to a more normal period . I’ve worried about menopause as well I’m 37 ,38 next month and I only got 6 eggs ,5 fertilised , 4 made to Blastocyst and 1 transferred . 3 were pgt tested and only one was normal . I had side effects like weight gain and dry skin but I think it’s the drugs .
Hi there, your clinic can prescribe you noristherone or provera to induce a bleed and then you can get going with your next cycle. I have pcos and therefore very irregular periods so often get given provera to induce a bleed. Good luck x
40+ day cycles are normal after (I’ve had shorter longer and spot on) I’ve also had to have my period induced after a 3 month delay with a cancelled cycle. In between all this I’ve went back to my normal cycle of 28 days and ovulating so it’s not a sign of menopause as I had that worry too before 🤗 also the more I stress and think about it the longer it seems to take to arrive!! Xx
I have had my withdrawal bleed after my 1st cycle failed (no eggs fertilised) and 4 days later I am bleeding again. It might just be spotting, I will have to wait and see, but it sure is frustrating not knowing what is happening down there.
Afraid it's very common ...same as other ladies here but a bit more erratic. My normal cycle is 26 days. After failed FET had withdrawal bleed, next cycle was 28 days and next was 21 days.... Who knows when the next will turn up...I messaged my Dr in case something more sinister but they (un)comfortingly told me it was likely peri-menopause (am 44). Hopefully your Dr will take it a bit more seriously and help you if there's a medicated option to get it back on track xx
I have had this twice previously with abandoned cycles! The first was 50 odd days and my latest was 45 days! I also worried it was menopause as had terrible hot flushes but since my period came I feel largely back to normal. So try not to worry You could also ask your clinic if they could give you some meds to kick start it x
Oh goodness, I could have written this myself! I'm on day 45 today and have never been more than 28 days. Is there a way that we can bring it on without medication? Feel like ive put my poor body through enough with a failed ivf cycle in march. I'm going for acupuncture next week. Not sure if that might sort things out.
Omg, I absolutely sympathise. I had failed FET after withdraw bleed no period since Feb. I am worried as I have got flushes, dry V and no period. I am supposed to do biopsy before I can have my next FET. I feel so angry with clinic insisting on biopsy. I've taken pessaries for seven days in hope that period will start in seven days. I've never been in this position. If I have no period then they want me to have ultrasound scan.
Sorry I don't have any answers but I'm told the period should come given the treatment. It should correct eventually and one friend did acupuncture it did start the period
