Hope you have all been keeping well, and your journeys are going as planned. And congrats to all the BFP always so lovely to hear. And of course so sorry for the nasty BFN ππ
I've been a bit quiet on here after my last BFN, just needed some time. So i had my follow up 2 weeks after my BFN in October, I could have started straight away with my FET but I chose not to jump right in. After 2 failed cycles this year, i just needed a bloody break. This journey is just so emotionally draining. So i thought I'd have nov/dec off and just enjoy life for a bit again i had forgot what that was like!! So mid January we will start.
So anyway my question? I've opted for what they call a medicated FET, only because sometimes my cycle does what it wants and also she said alot of scans and blood tests with a natural fet and well it's very hard to get blood out of me and I dont feel like having bruised arms and a million scans, so all she said is I'll be taking prognyova (hope I spelled that right) and just pessaries. But I've heard for medicated fet having to down reg and take all these other drugs etc? So is mine a medicated? Must be if I'm taking something but why not any other of these meds and things I've googled? It's all a bit confusing! Also how long will I be on it until transfer? And any nasty side effects?
Thanks ladies xxx

I had a medicated FET with progynova and pessaries. I had to have one injection into the bum which they did on day 25 of my cycle. I then had to ring back when my period started for a scan then they decided when to start progynova. I had my injection on the 29th April last year and transfer on the 24th May xx
Thanks for your reply hun. Hmm ok what was the injection in ya bum for? I wasn't told I was having anything like that in fact she said no more Injections at all! And I am to call day 1 of my period and I'm sure she said that's when I start the prognyova and then nurse will advise when I come in for scan? Weird seems a bit different. Then I hear of all these other meds ladies take? This is my first FET (never had anything to freeze! π) so it's all new to me xxx
You can have a medicated FET as in no down regulation but just taking progynova to increase my lining. I'm not sure if this is semi medicated but that's what I'm calling it. Not down regulating is great and I don't get side effects with progynova but I know some others feel a bit sick and dizzy. It's slightly better than going completely natural as you don't have to time ovulation as the progynova stops ovulation occurring. When your lining is at a good thickness you start progesterone for transfer as you would with a fresh cycle.xx
Ohhh ok. So I guess your right part medicated. So is that all prognyova does thickens your lining? But don't they have to know exactly when you ovulate so they know when to time your embryo transfer? Or does the prognyova help with the timing too? This is all new to me...give me a fresh cycle and I can tell you back to front how it goes! Lol.
And how are you doing hun I think I seen your post you've started your fet? Xxx
Progynova stops ovulation occurring and you can take it up to 3 wks before introducing progesterone to transfer. It's juat oestrogen tablets really so this helps you thicken your lining.....it varies from person to person how long this takes but usually transfer around around 2 wks after starting it. The progesterone is introduced to prepare your lining with progesterone (as you don't ovulate) so the body thinks it has....hope that makes sense.
I started but had to abandon as I cocked everything up!π Gonna wait until after Xmas to start again.xx
Ahhhhhh I see thanks very much hun I get it now. Phew thought I would be taking it for weeks as ive heard down regging takes ages! So good to know wont be too long.
Oh no what did you do? I thought you were just on prognyova like me? Xxx
No your not a jinx! Oh will they still go ahead as our clinic is shut for a week or 2 around Christmas but you might be ok as you will be taking prognyova for a bit? I'm my own jinx more like it transfer number 3 it will be π€¦ββοΈ xxx
Im not sure, will need to see how the land lies when AF arrives I guess, I would like to get on with it to be honest. Transfer number 5 that'll be for me....no more jinxing for us!!π€xx
Awww yes the irony that we are always waiting on af!! Well I look forward to your updates and oh geez number 5 its def your time hun!! π€ yeah I will be using my 2 in the freezer (which was only given a 30% chance with each one and they will be single transfers) and then that's it for me. Please let this be our time π€ππ
I'll no doubt be posting like a crazy lady when I get started again! Ha ha ha Ive got 3 in the freezer but hoping to transfer 2 this time so potentially 2 transfers left too. Ive already been googling prices at other clinics (what am I like, nothing like setting myself up for failure) but not sure we can really afford to start another cycle. Fingers crossed we get some luck this time around!xx
Oh well like me that's great 2 more chances, I'm just feel so blessed that we actually had not 1 but 2 to freeze last round! And felt even luckier when our clinic said only 1 out 3 couples have anything to freeze. Yeah that's it for us we simply cannot afford another round here in nz. Yes please somebody send us both some luck we bloody need it!! π€π€ππ
I will be having a medicated FET, starting mid-January too π There will be a downregulation with buserlin nasal spray; progynova, pessaries and clexane/aspirin. Best wishes xxx
Oh see I'm not doing any down regging just prognyova and pessaries π wonder why it's different for everyone? This whole fet thing is new to me....fresh cycle I could tell you minute by minute but Im lost with fet lol xxx
That sounds like what I did - progynova started on day 2 of cycle, then started progesterone on about day 10 and transfer day 17. No bloods taken and only 1 scan. The progesterone made me a bit moody (and starving!!) But apart from that it really wasn't bad at all. Best of luck with it xxx
Oh good so wont be on them too long until transfer.yeah I was told 1 scan and 1 blood test. And yes the progesterone makes me starving as well! Oh the Joy's lol and thank you this will be transfer number 3 π€¦ββοΈ xxx
Third time lucky!! btw, if you're on a similar protocol to what I did you'll continue taking both medications until the test and until 10/12 weeks if positive. I've been feeling fine with them but vaginally administered progesterone 4 times/day does tend to take over your life!!
That doesnβt sound like a medicated fet to me. I did one medicated fet and down regulated on buserelin. It sounds like theyβre suggesting a natural modified fet, Iβve done three of those. I hardly had any blood tests and only one scan but I am on lubion and cyclogest xx
Oh well she called this a medicated fet? said I could have fully natural but she said lots of scans and blood tests to pinpoint ovulation. This is why I was confused as I've heard what other medicated fet are like. Weird.
How's your 2ww going? I keep thinking of you and i really hope this is your time xxx
Hehehe damn Google we cant help it aye! Yep this time I'm not going to read anything into anything! Both BFN had completely different symptoms 1 no cramps the other loads of cramps so I cant trust anything! Your doing well hang in there hun will be definately crossing everything for you and will be looking forward to your updates π€π€π€ when is otd? Xxx
I referred to my fet which was exactly this as βsemi-Medicatedβ. My clinic get the same success rates with down regulated medicated cycles and non-down regulated medicated cycles but I donβt think they offer entirely unmedicated cycles. This protocol worked for me and was relatively easy compared to down regulation although towards the end of taking just the progynova I started to feel pretty crappy, both emotional and tired. I took three progynova tablets a day from day two of my period. Once I added in the progesterone pessaries (five days before transfer) I regulated back to a pretty normal state within 48 hours. There was one scan before I started pessaries to make sure I had not grown a follicle so would not naturally ovulate so I wouldnβt call this a natural cycle in any way.
Oh thanks lizzie so confusing. As my doctor called this medicated and I could have a fully natural one but lots of blood and scans to pinpoint ovulation. It was only 2 weeks after my BFN so was still upset and asking other questions, but now that January is getting closer I'm wanting to know what's the haps! Thanks for your reply xxx
