Hand, foot and mouth disease any advice please

Hello, I work at a school and two cases of hand, foot and mouth disease have been reported. There are no Children in my class that have contracted it yet but a sibling of one of the children has it. I'm currently 5 weeks 3 days and am really concerned about this. I have immune issues and have been given medication to lower my immune responses and am really concerned about this. If anyone can offer any advice or reassurance, are there any tests that I can have that can rule this out? Thank you for reading xxx

My little girl had impetigo and hand foot and mouth together while I was pregnant just over a month ago and the doctors didn’t seem too concerned as it’s quite rare for adults to catch it xxx

Thank you for replying, this is very reassuring to know! Just so scared with my weakened immune system of picking anything up xxx

I think you are probably best speaking to your gp. Just had a quick look at NHS direct and it says no risk to pregnancy but I think you are best speaking to them for reassurance. Xx

Thank you for replying, have just spoken to my gp and she said the risk is very small but because of my immune issues I need to speak to my clinic, just waiting for their reply now, just another thing to stress about! Xxx

Hopefully you'll hear back from the clinic soon, good that your GP isnt too concerned but always good to get their input! The worrying in all of this never seems to stop!xx

You are certainly right there, it never stops! Just don't know what to do for the best, don't like having time off work but don't want to jeopardise anything. Thank you for replying and hope you're okay too xxx

Just wanted to say congratulations on your pregnancy! I was wondering if it worked for you 😊 I have no advice regarding hand, foot and mouth and to be honest I have only heard of it first time after coming to live in the UK. I hope this is “kids illness” and that you will be ok xx

I bet you’re ecstatic 😊 Good decision about taking a a few days off. Are you flying back to the clinic for a scan? I’m ok, still haven’t decided whether to do the NK cells tests or not but I have some time. xxx

getting the scan done at a private clinic over here Who are brilliant and so helpful. have to have another Intralipid iv after the scan too to keep that immune system suppressed! we so hope for a good result. Good that you have some time to think about your nk cell testing, all the very best to you and ty for your lovely messages xxx
