Waiting to start IVF

On the waiting list to start IVF nearly 5 months now. Was told that it would be around 8 to 9 months waiting. Anyone get appointments earlier than they expected?

My first referral was sep 2017! our first appointment at the clinic in Feb 2018. There was then an issue with HFEA, and we have now chosen our donor sperm, just waiting to hear if it’s available so it’s been a good year all in all. Time always feels slow when your waiting for things. It all depends on you clinic/hospital I guess. Hope you hear something soon, and good luck xxx

When I was put on the NHS list I was told to expect a 6 month wait but it was sooner than that, around 5 months. The waiting is the worst but I know we were lucky in that some areas have a much longer wait xx

Well that is good news. Hopefully I will hear something earlier. Waiting is a killer.

We were referred Feb 2018.

Although we are having our one free try of IVF on the NHS we were referred to the closest fertility clinic (which is a private clinic)

I think it depends on if your local NHS supports fertility treatment or not. I have a couple of friends who live in the next county to us and they are having their treatment through the NHS and at the local hospital. So everyone will be different when it comes to waiting list.

I start my treatment tomorrow 😀

Hi,

I would chase up with your GP or your local CCG.

Just in case it’s been lost in the system.

My GP sent my referral to the wrong place, and we didn’t realise for 3 months, had to chase it up ourselves.

I hope you hear back soon, I know how frustrating it is not knowing what going on.

That happened to me also. But we met with the consultant at the clinic and she put is on the waiting list. I was going to ring them but was told 8 or 9 months but it would be nice to know a rough date as we all have lives and have to keep putting things on hold as we don't know when we will be starting our treatment

If I were you I’d would ring anyway. It’s so hard putting everything on hold.

Hi , my 5 attempts in IVF in 2 different countries ( private fertility hospitals ) there was no waiting time , if there was any wait it was just in preparation for the IVF cycle itself.

Hiya we were refered in 2017 febuary andbwe started in feb 2018 i had my egg collection in april with the NHS after the first pre treatment appointment if flew and all came around pretty quick x x
