We had it confirmed by the clinic this morning. That’s our third failed cycle. It’s heartbreaking. We have been lucky to have NHS cycles but the next will be private.
We’d like to have genetic testing done. Has anyone had any experience of:
Karyotyoing blood test to check chromosomes?
Pre implantation genetic screening?
Using donor eggs?
Thank you xx

Ahhh Im really sorry to hear that. My clinic more or less tolf me at 38/39 that I only had 5% chance with my OE. I'd already decided by that point to move to DE. Its a tough decision but once you start paying we thought we wanted to give ourselves the best chance....no success as of yet but our embryos were brilliant compared to using OE. My hubby had karyotyping done to rule out issues as he has a low count but no problems detected. We didnt even consider doing PGS as we only got a few decent embryos in our OE cycles. Big hugs.xxx
Thank you 😘 I am nearly 40! So that’s what I’m thinking. We had a good cycle this time and first blasto but previous cycles haven’t been great with egg numbers. Do you need blasto for PGS? Sorry you’ve had no luck yet but hope it’s your turn soon. I’ll have to have a look it to donor eggs I think. X
As far as Im aware you need blastocysts or that's my understanding. I only got 2 early blastocysts on my 2nd cycle and 1x2BB blastocyst on my third. If you have any questions then give us a shout, there are a few ladies using DE on here! Good luck!xx
I am so very sorry to read this. Hopefully the clinic can give you some answers. It doesn't sound like you have an issue with eggs or sperm. Just getting the things to stick. Have you tried an endometrial scratch? Had the thrombophilia testing done? I had to have genetic screening, along with my husband for donor egg process. Happy to chat if you want to dm me.
Take time to heal, but you seem to be like me and have part of the healing process as knowing what the next plan is.
Thank you 😘 yes I had the scratch this time. Don’t know if I’d have it again. We do seem to have trouble with implantation! But read that can be a genetic issue. And with my age as well. I hope to have tests and one more go with my OE. If it’s recommended. I will DM about donor. Thanks. Hope your getting on well.
Can I ask about your experience of the scratch. I’ve just had some feedback from my last cycle and they’ve recommended the scratch next round. Just wondering about your experience as you said your not sure if you’d have it again.
Hi, having the scratch was ok. Only a little pain for 10 seconds! And I think the research that’s coming back is positive. I think I only thought I wouldn’t have it again as I didn’t get BFP so wonder if it’s worth it. Also it seemed to mess up my bleed. It was really light. I was worried my lining wouldn’t be right for the cycle but it was ok. We will be private now so just not sure its an extra I’ll pay for when we have a lot to pay for with the genetic testing. X
I’m waiting for follow up with consultant. I have no idea of the cost? We are also paying from this point on and I’m concerned about all these extras. I’m also considering genetic testing due to my age (37)
I think the scratch at our clinic is about £275. Not the most expensive extra. The karyotype testing is about £250 ish I think. We plan on starting with this. And having a hysteroscopy which is £2700 private but I have got an app to ask the GP about having it NHS. Depends how long the wait is. X
I had a hysteroscopy this year on the NHS as i had bad adhesions and they wanted to check that I didn’t have anything in my womb causing problems. Thankfully not. I waited about 3 months! Thanks for the info gemmy999
So sorry, it’s just so devastating 😞 I haven’t had genetic testing, but I know LizzieLizzielizzie has had karyotyoing done. I have recently had a receptivity and implantation biopsy, and I’m using DE because for some reason my eggs are a bit rubbish. So if you need to chat or any questions just shout xx but for now be kind to yourself xxx
Hi gemmy999. Obviously, I was so sorry to read your news, and hope you've got plenty of support around you just now. With regards to PGS, I think I would try the chromosome/karyotyping first, then progress to PGS if any problem found. It's a very expensive business, and yes, you need to get your embryos to blastocyst stage for that. Thinking of you. Diane
Thank you Diane for your advice. I did think that was the best route. Getting to blast for PGS will be our issue. And then I’ve read it can be a false result and you lose the blasto as the wouldn’t transfer when it would have been viable. A lot to think about. At least we could start with the karyotpying. Thanks again x
I’m so sorry your going through this! It’s bloody hard! We always had day 5 blastos but kept loosing them early so we went with donor (tandem cycle) as I’m 39. I will be doing donor again in January as better outcomes l with eggs from young donors in Cyprus. Itsvhead getting your head around donor but once you do it’s fine.
So sorry to read this!! 💔 I’m just going through testing at the moment - I’m 40 and have had 3 miscarriages!! I’ve just had two sets of bloods back and about to do Karyotyping now!! If I can help at all please just ask!! Wishing you the very best!! xx
So sorry to hear this gemmy999. Enjoy the glass of wine and hopefully some escapism over the weekend.
We are about to go through our second round of implantation from donated eggs - implantation seems to be our problem too. Happy to chat through egg donation if it would help x
So sorry to hear this, I had 5-% chance of OE working so went to DE in Cyprus we got our little boy on our 3rd DE cycle. Once you get your head around DE you feel no different to that little embryo/baby growing inside you. You feel connected as soon as it’s there. When born it’s amazing and no worries that it was DE x
I’m so sorry to hear this. I know your hearts are breaking.
My husband and I made the move to use donor eggs earlier this year after 4 goes at ICSI with my own eggs. Sadly it didn’t work out for us. However there are other couples on here who have gone on to become parents this way.
