I had my HSG about two weeks ago now. I was so so scared! (I’m a big baby) I looked online and saw some horror stories, but it was fine! It was literally over so quickly, mine wasn’t painful just intense period pain for a few seconds, I didn’t get told straight away which was stressful, but you can watch the screen if it’s visable. Mine was behind me so I couldn’t see.
I had to wait 3 weeks to find out as I already had an appointment booked for today with my fertility doctor. I had cramping for an hour max. I was fine after. You will be fine xx
They wouldn’t tell me anything from mine and said I’d have to wait for results, which were fine. It’s not too bad having it done. Just take some paracetamol and if you have any cramping later (like af type cramping) then use a hot water bottle xx
Hello! I got my results immediately but you can ask for a print out of the sonographer's notes. As others have mentioned I was asked to take painkillers 1h before. I could feel sharp period pain that did not last very long. You will be fine! x
Yeah couple of painkillers an hour before and it was fine just quite embarrassing but if the aim is pregnancy then labour will surely be worse!
Also take a sanitary towel with you as they give you an NHS one which is like a nappy and NHS pants which are awful, just so you can change before leaving the hospital!
I just felt some cramping and that was all, didn't feel any pain at all. I could sneakily look at the screen and could see how one side was looking fine and the other was blocked. I had been doing some google research the days prior. I think its perfectly fine for you to ask the Dr what he/she found right after before you receive your report. I got a report on the same day just had to wait 1 hour but the Dr had already told me what to expect. Good luck! Don't be scared, it's great news you are having the test, more information for your final diagnosis and treatment if needed, good luck xx
