PCO and metformin

Hi anyone got PCO and been given metformin??

Hi I have.

I don’t really know what I have to be honest though. I have cysts on ovaries, really high AMH at 63.8 but other hormones all normal (not high testosterone or anything) and normal weight, no hair etc. He said i’m atypical PCO but anyway had metformin but didn’t take it for long as made me sick. I couldn’t really understand why I was on it as don’t think insulin resistance was the reason for problems. Who knows? I don’t really understand it as I mostly ovulate regularly.

I have PCOS and I had read that metformin could possibly help so I asked the doctor to prescribe it. Unfortunately it didn’t do anything but when I eventually had IVF my consultant told me to carry on to reduce the risk of miscarriage x

I’m similar to Poppsicle. Have polycystic ovaries and high AMH but none of other symptoms. Both parents are diabetic though. Ive been on metformin for 2 weeks - no issues so far but need to wait and see if it helps stimulate my ovulation earlier though xx

I have cysts on ovaries and AMH is 28.7 I am 29,, but I haven’t been put on metformin?x

Mine’s 52.4 so almost double yours. Tbh i dont think there is a right or wrong answer when it comes to it. Metformin isnt licensed for polycystic ovaries in the uk but it has been provided for some time. You could always ask your Dr whether it may be helpful? xx

I only just saw this. Someone else like me! I still don’t really get my condition. I’m on letrazole at the moment to see if that boosts ovulation even though I think I do ovulate. Weirdly my dad is diabetic but type 1 so didn’t think it was related...? xx
