Does having PCO effect ttc?
PCO: Does having PCO effect ttc? - Fertility Network UK
PCO
Hi sammejayne. Yes, it can, because too many follicles are trying to enlarge at the same time naturally, and one fails to become dominant to let an egg in,so it can burst out towards the Fallopian tube. You may need some medication to sort it out, which can be done. Good luck. Diane
What sort of medication ?
Hi. Possibly something like Clomid (clomephene), taken from Day 2 to Day 6 of your cycle to ensure ovulation. There are others, but this is the popular one used. Diane
Hi I have already done 4 months of clomid, all it did was give me terrible bloating, I still have two months left but I don't think I can cope with it. what else can I try.. I feel so helpless.
Hi sammyjayne. It may be that the next step will be IVF. Good luck! Diane
this is what I thought, this stresses me out as will have to pay. my partner has a daughter already so im not entitled to free treatment
Yes it does.
I havd done operation for that
What operation was that x
Laparoscope surgery or cyct operation something like that
Basically the operation will puncture the cyct that has been growing in our ovaries
I think what you might be referring to is something called Ovarian Drilling. Sounds horrible but if you Google that, you’ll get the info. From what understand, that’s really for severe cases but I could be wrong.
I have PCO (not PCOS). What they tend to use as a guide is if your follicle count is between 30-50 then you are clased as PCO but anything over 50 tends to be PCOS (which is often accompanied with symptoms such as excess hair, irregular periods, etc).
Our consultant didn’t seem to think that PCO should have affected TTC as I’m ovulating normally, in our case my partners swimmers weren’t swimming straight & he had a low count so we went down the IVF ICSI route. Because I have a high reserve we got good numbers (although it’s all about quality not quantity) and it was successful (currently 10wks pregnant). I appreciate the cost is challenging, but it will be worth saving for!! 😊
Do you have a normal, regular cycle?
Hi- the nurse yesterday said my AMH was 28.7 and I have pco.... they can not find anything else untoward at all, ive been trying over two years and never caught once. yes my cycle is literally every 4th sunday! x
That all sounds really positive! Have you had your tubes checked to make sure they’re not blocked? I’m guessing your partner has been given the all clear? I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you! 😕
Hi yes had hsg, all ok. partners been checked too also all ok. he also has a daughter already. which isn't great for me as I dint get funded ivf..
Sounds like you are the same situation as me. We weren’t diagnosed unexplained. All test came back fine - hormone levels are fine and i ovulate regularly. For us it was IVF and then we found the problem - my husband’s sperm couldn’t fertilise my eggs. So we are trying a second time with ICSI. I know it’s frustrating. I’ve seen a handful of doctors and no one ever mentioned that having PCO would impact fertility. It could be something else that is making it difficult for you. Hang in there...
thanks, yes its nice to have someone go through something similar, my fiancé has a daughter already so it can be the fact his sperm isn't fertilising my eggs could it? I don't know, I just don't know what to do now. as he already has a daughter I don't get ivf on nhs so have to get some money together some how...x
There can be so many things that are preventing conception - not just lack of fertilisation - you really don’t know until you start IVF and the thorough investigations. And sometimes you never really find out what the problem was. Unfortunately it costs money. It seems a number of people go overseas for treatment because it can be cheaper. Just a thought
hi thanks for that but I have PCO not PCOS, and my periods are like clockwork x
