Natural FET

Hi

After a failed round of IVF, we are going ahead with a natural FET in January and although it does sound a lot less stressful I'm a bit apprehensive about going ahead without any drugs!

Can anyone share any positive stories of doing a natural FET?

Thanks

Your clinic must think it’s a positive thing for you to go ahead with, they must be fairly confident that you don’t need the drugs. I do a natural modified fet where I take the progesterone pessaries, lubion injections and if need be, they could add hrt to thicken the lining. If you’re anxious perhaps you could ask about a natural modified fet xx

Yes I think I might, thank you. I had a good lining with the first round we did but it's hard for me to understand if that was down to the drugs or my body actually trying to do something correctly for once?! x

I'm 6 weeks pregnant after a natural FET with no meds at all, I was very skeptical and really didn't think my body would do it all, trust your doctors xxxx

Thank you - so reassuring to know it does work! :) x

Lolol before I saw my positive I was honestly thinking how could it work when people have to have so many meds, but apparently if you ovulate and have a regular cycles and all hormones are at good levels there's no benefit of having meds xxx

It's such a strange concept to us going through this to actually trust your body to do what its supposed to do! lol! ridiculous really but so hard to get my head round it that after all this time trying, all the op's that I've had etc that we can try a natural cycle! like you say, I need to trust the doctors and trust my body! x

It most definately is! And honestly I can imagine it better not to have any meds. I hope it goes well!! Xxxxxxxx

I was really unsure when my consultant suggested a natural FET but after going through it and now being 12 weeks pregnant I’d definitely recommend it. I did take prednisone and cycologest though so was still partly medicated. Wishing you lots of luck xx

thank you! so lovely to hear positive stories, best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy xx

Yes I would definitely enjoy the chance of not using drugs, and there is evidence indicating that natural and medicated cycles are equivalent in terms of pregnancy success rates! I wish I could do that ;-) Hope it all goes well, good luck! xxx

Just wanted to wish you all the best. I haven't tried one myself but it sounds so much more serene. Xx

Going to go for a medicated fet in January. Wasnt given the option of non medicated but it sounds alot easier! The clinic will be monitoring you and hopefully your body behaves as it should

I'm 22 weeks pregnant from long cycle medical FET. Great it's worked but it was grueling all the drugs, pessaries, side effects etc... If I could had done it naturally I would had, as I'm sure it must be a much nicer experience. Wishing you super luck for January!!!

Hi I just wanted to (hopefully sensitively) share that both my girls were natural fets. I too was sceptical- as above I think we ladies are so used to the drugs that we feel strange about not taking them! However if you have regular cycles etc (e.g. if your difficulties are male factor) it makes sense to try naturally and let your body do what it needs to. My consultant said to try natural fet as there was no reason to have meds. He said it it.didnt work we would look at medicated fet in future. It worked! And a 2nd time for my now 1 year old. I am very luckyI know. So I would go with it and enjoy the lack of side effects :-) Good luck and lots of love to all xxx

That's so great to hear, thank you! That has made me feel a lot more positive about doing it naturally so will put my trust in my body! xx

Sorry just jumping on this to say this gives me so much hope!

Ours is male factor and although my cycles are sometimes a bit longer, I believe I do ovulate! My consultant has said the same as yours said, if it doesnt work we will do medicated, so hoping I am as lucky as you were!

Thank you for sharing xx

I'm so glad I've just seen this post as I was about to write one very similar. After a failed fresh cycle I will be hopefully doing a natural FET with our only frostie. I am terrified of the thought of it being "natural" as I find taking the meds makes me feel like it's being controlled and naturally no one will be controlling it except me. I'm also nervous because progesterone pessaries didn't keep my period away during the 2ww (bled on 9dp5dt) but actually my period was right on time for my natural cycle. Consultant thinks natural will be better though as I have a regular cycle and I don't have random spotting throughout cycle. Hoping it will be more relaxing and kinder on the body and mind xxx

Wishing you all the luck in January i jopento be able to share a positive experience with you xxx
