Hi all I have been reading a lot of posts on the internet about not using certain household and personal hygiene products. Just wondering what people have stopped used and what you have swapped to?
I have read not to use perfumed body wash but not sure what else I should be considering.

I Tried all of that with my first round... no perfume, no nail polish, all the non toxic cleaning products... that round was actually my worst of all five, so I wouldn’t recommend putting too much emphasis on any of those worries! Best thing to do in my opinion is to just use cleaning products and sprays and lotions etc sparingly, not generously. And if there is the odd product you know that you use too much of, maybe look at a healthy alternative. But it can get silly the lengths we go to and just adds to the stress. Xx
I have swapped household products for non-toxic eg. Method and Ecover. They smell lovely and I enjoy using them. In terms of personal hygiene products I try to pick those without harsh chemicals. I have very sensitive skin so they work better for me anyway. The only one thing that I have never found good enough was a natural deodorant so I have to use normal ones. X
I'm glad you've bought this up as I'm getting myself in a bit of a 'tiz' about this. I've been to a well known health shop today to buy un perfumed shower gel although like you Kari55 I can't bring myself to use a natural deodorant so have opted for the 'Simple' version. Our clinic have never mentioned about not using perfumed products especially on transfer day so I just don't know how far to take this, I miss my normal products but don't want to jeopardise anything, it's good to hear everyone's opinions on this thank you xxx
During my fresh and current frozen cycle both myself and DH have been cautious about certain cleaning products and deodorant. He generally use original dettol spray for surfaces as it’s not particularly strong smelling and we have both switched to stick deodorant. With regards to shower gel and shampoo We just use the normal every day. I do try to avoid strong smelling perfume though x
I didn’t swap a thing apart from for EC and ET where I went perfume free for body wash and deodorant and I got a BFP so personally I wouldn’t stress too much x
I did the same thing. I cut out products for EC and ET but have carried on as normal as consultant didn't say otherwise. I have a tried a natural charcoal deodorant and that was good but I didn't replace it when it ran out. Oh actually, on the start of my cycle in Feb I did go and buy organic body lotions but they irritated my skin, no idea why so I didn't replace them either. Xxx
My naturopath advised to switch to non-toxic household cleaning products and it’s easy enough to do - and cheaper! It also means if you are successful then you won’t have a little one crawling around on surfaces with chemicals on. I use white vinegar mixed with water and a bit of peppermint oil as a surface spray, and baking soda for anything that needs a scrub. Works a charm. Also the doctor Bronner products are great. Of course it’s personal choice but this worked for me and I like having a chemical-free home too x
I too was advised this. The method stuff smells lovely but I have still not found a deodorant which actually works. Anyone here found one without aluminium which does? Would be great to know.
I have also recently found out we need to be careful too about nail polish and hair dye. Ooops
The main thing though - stress. Try not to stress about all these things xxx
I’ve tried quite a few aluminium-free deodorants and sticks.
I have to say that nothing was amazing for those hot or particularly stressful days. But I quite like the Origins stick and I use it regularly now (might have to swap back in the summer!).
