I had EC today, 3rd cycle but first one at this clinic. They were great. I had 12 follicles and 12 eggs collected. Very pleased as the most we’ve had in the past was 4 but need to wait for the news tomo about fertilisation 🤞🏻 I forgot how painful it was! I can hardly walk tonight. Anyone got recent experience of this or experience that they can remember regarding the pain post EC?
I am planning on taking time off sick from transfer for some r & r as I’ve had a stressful time with both my husband and dad poorly. My work policy allows pregnancy related sickness to not be included in the general sickness policy. Any advice on what is the best thing to put my sickness down to do that it’s classed at pregnancy related? I’ve read to say it’s gynae problem?
Thanks in advance xx

I was ok after egg collection, bit painful first day and a half but nothing major thankfully. I think you need to rest up and speak to clinic if concerned or if it gets worse. I'm hoping you feel better soon.
I hope tomorrow brings amazing positive news 🤞
I think under ACAS guidelines you're classed as being pregnant but you can double check this and speak with your GP.
Hi, thank you. Hopefully the pain is easier tomo. I have read it is classed as being pregnant but I’m not sure my work will accept it’s just cause I need time to rest.
I think they have to accept it and failing that, if you're not sure or worried, you can ask the doctor to sign off and put a reason you are comfortable with. Xxx
Brilliant numbers well done. Really hope the call goes well tomorrow. Xx
A few days after my egg collection I was in a lot of pain and could hardly walk and it turned out I had an infection see how you go and if your concerned ring your clinic just to be on the safe side! That’s great numbers fingers crossed for your fertilisation results 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Gynae problem sounds good without going into too much detail. Sounds like you’ve been dealing with a lot. Congratulations on the amount of eggs! It’s amazing that all your follicles provided! 🙌🏻 Good luck for the phone call xx
Thank you 🤞🏻 My work are aware of my IVF so I don’t mind that so much. It’s more to make sure I get it off as maternity related sickness as our sickness policy is rubbish! But that seems like the best option. Thanks again. Good to have you back xx
That's fantastic! Can I ask what you did different this time to get 12 eggs. I only seem to be able to ever get 5 and always have 2 or 3 day transfer.. Would love a few more eggs to try make it to 5. Best of luck.
Hi, thank you. I went to a new clinic and they put me on a different stimulating drug, Ovaleap. I also had acupuncture with a fertility specialist regularly and took melatonin from start of stims to end of stims. I’m sure it’s the change of drugs mostly. Xx
Hi, oh I can feel your pain...literally right now! I could barely walk yesterday evening and was in so much pain after mine.
I’m on my third cycle at the moment and there have been lots of changes this time, different protocol, tried metformin tablets too, etc. The changes have been very noticeable as, positively, I have had brilliant results but negatively, I’ve never been this uncomfortable after or been in this much pain.
I’ve also been refusing to take paracetamol this cycle (or any) but yesterday in the clinic the nursing staff assured me it was safe and I knew I actually really did need it this time. So I’ve been on 2 paracetamol every 6 hours since coming round and it’s made the world of difference! 🙏
I would go through ANY amount of pain and discomfort though for a BFP!!!
My work also know about my IVF journey and I am currently off. This was a blessing yesterday, and is today as well actually, as I couldn’t have worked in.
Hi, thank you for your reply. I’m glad you’ve got your pain under control. I’ve been the same with paracetamol. I knew it was save but tried to stay off it. It’s silly really to be in pain so I am also taking it. I’m glad you’ve had some positive outcomes. When’s your transfer?
Also good to hear your work is supportive. And you have time off. I don’t like calling in sick but can’t wait for time off to rest.
I’m exactly the same as you I feel terrible guilt and fear if I’m off work I’ll for some reason but I had to be really strict with myself and listen when the clinic said this is my time and I’ll never get this time back to focus on myself and our quest for a baby. Try to let it happen so you can relax properly and focus on you xxx
