TSH levels - am I too low?

Hi ladies,

Ive been reading lots of comments about TSH levels that they should be below 2.5 when TTC. I’ve had my blood results back today and mine are 0.9 - is that too low? 😕

It’s a negative number which means it’s surpressesd. It’s not abnormal but they might want to monitor for HYPER thyroidism rather than hypo. I’m hypo and mine needs to be around a figure like yours to feel well. I know it’s more dangerous to be under active. Than over. X

Each lab has a different range so I would check with your GP but like misswinky34 suggests, if anything-yours would be showing an overactive thyroid but in my area this would be a normal result. What is your T4 result? A low TSH means that your body feels you have enough/too much thyroxine (hyperthyroidism) and a high TSH means that your body feels you don’t have enough (underactive-hypo)

However, overactive thyroid is still important to treat as left untreated it can also affect your health and your heart. X

Thank you. The GP gave normal ranges of 0.35 - 4 but ive read a lot of women on here saying that are 3 and thats considered too high for TTC. Just wondered if there was considered a ‘too low’ for TTC. GP wasnt concerned, just said its normal 🤷🏻‍♀️😕

Mine was surpressed with a figure similar to yours When I got pregnant. I know when your HYPO it’s dangerous because a foetus won’t develop its own thyroid until after the first trimester. So if there’s not enough for maternal needs there won’t be enough for the baby. I’ve never heard of it being too low, but like the other lady said, depending on your lab ranges you might become hyper so they should keep an eye on you. 😊

Good luck xxxx

0.9 with ranges 0.35-4 is perfect. It fluctuates every day as well. You have nothing to worry about but you could also have thyroid antibodies, T4 and T3 checked to see if all is in range but since TSH is ok, then there is a big chance that they are too x

Thank you, thats reassured me. Waiting for HSG. I will ask about T4 and T3 if i’m sent for bloods again. Dr wasnt concerned but then again they never are 🙈 x

Mine is currently 0.867 and that's within normal range, the Lower range is 0.49 and the upper is 4.67. Our consultant said our numbers were fine.

Depends what the normal range for your results is. Im having IVF and my TSH is currently 0.03, which is only just under, so my consultant just suggested altering my levo dose slightly, nobody seems very concerned. Are you hyper or hypo and medicated? Definitely worth checking T4 and if you can convince your GP also your T3 x
