Injecting BUSERELIN

Nurse told me I could inject BUSERELIN in thigh muscle or bottom of tummy. Has anyone injected in the bum as my partner will be doing it and I would prefer bum! Advice please!

Never done any in my bum. I’m put off by having to sit on it if it’s sore lol 😣 xx

If it’s for downregulation then normally it is injected subcutaneously (ie in the fat layer of the skin) rather than in the muscle...

I only ever injected in lower stomach and clinic only ever mentioned lower stomach or thigh to me- easier to pinch the skin there. got my husband to do one injection-easier to do lying down if someone else is stabbing you.

Is there a reason you prefer bum? X

Hiya, I think the needles you’ll have been given for your buserelin injections will be appropriate for in your belly or your thigh. I think you might need a longer needle for injections in your bum. I had to have the one off prostap injection for down reg for a couple of cycles and they got me to come into the clinic to have the nurse do it as it was in my bottom xx

Injections in bum are for intramuscular drugs. Buserelin is subcutaneous so you should not do it in your bum. You could try standing up and looking the other way when hubbie does it in your thigh, or just closing your eyes. It’s honestly not as bad as you think it’s going to be and you get used to it xx

As Lizzie says, the injections really aren't so bad. The needles are really tiny. My clinic also said thigh or belly only. Personally I couldn't do them in my thigh, I'm not particularly muscly but it did feel like injecting through leather! It was quite painful and I got a massive bruise - belly was much easier 😊

I was told to inject in my tummy anywhere below my belly button. Like the other lovely ladies have said, the needles are very small and you’ll soon get used to them. Good luck xxxx
