I wrote to my HR department today about a potential fertility policy. Should hear back from the head of HR Tuesday... 🙊

Good luck 🤞🏻 would be nice to hear what they say. I think every company should have a policy on it to make it easier on couples x

I wrote to them about exactly the same thing yesterday! 😊 I’m trying to get them in touch with Fertility Network UK and organise a Fertility Lunch Talk at work. I’m not sure whether I will achieve anything, we’ll see. Keep us posted and good luck! X

My HR team have been amazing. I'm a teacher and so leaving school at the last minute and not knowing the dates with lots of notice is a nightmare as I need to leave cover for my classes but they've told me to just do whatever I need to do. The time off for egg retrieval and implementation is medical so I'm entitled to it anyway and I believe once you've had the implantation you're technically classed as pregnant so are entitled to those benefits, obviously with the hope its successful. I know if it's not successful I will need a couple days off as I'll be devastated but you can call in sick for 7 days anyway. Good luck i hope they're supportive xx

That is great. My workplace has been a great help but I am hoping they may introduce a policy to help future mes reach out. Also just so you are aware you are actually covered for another 2 weeks after a negative result but hopefully that wont be an issue x

Well done - please do give an update on how it goes. My manager is supportive but HR manager is always very quick to repeat that this whole process is elective which although technically true is so incredibly insensitive and the same could be said for pregnancy!

in reply toBusybee88

Oh gosh! Glad your manager is supportive though, hopefully, this can work for all companies one day. It is so sad the number of people that still - 40 years on, do not understand fertility treatment and frown upon it, but do not do the same for those that do it the old-fashioned way! Will definitely keep everyone posted

Some HR departments say the same about all sorts of procedures, classing everything except emergency procedures as elective, because I think legally that actually is the case! Good HR managers recognise that having strong supportive policies in place for infertility and other issues helps to improve their workforce.

Brilliant, I wish they welcome it and put a policy on place that would accommodate the process.
