Gonal f 450 and Gonal f 1050

Hello ladies,

I started my Gonal f 450iu tonight but a little bit confused. The nurse told me to inject 450 iu for 7 days and 375iu on day 8. But on the package leaflet, it mentions the daily dosage should start from 75iu to 150iu. I am very confused. Also need to know is Gonal f 1050 the same thing. I received 3 2 boxed of 450iu and 4 boxes 1050iu. I am very confused. I injected 75iu only. I hope i am not anything wrong here. Please help

Hi lovely, you should be taking the dosage the nurses told you. For my last cycle I was on gonal-f 275 a day so your dosage could well be 450. The 1050iu is just the amount of the drug, if you open it the strength should be the same, just more of it. I would speak to your clinic today and ask them for a daily written plan of what you should be taking. X

Hello Lata, 450iu is the maximum dose you can inject per day. I have been on this dose my self. Gonal f 450 iu is the same as Gonal f 1050 iu. So if were told to inject Gonal f 450, then you can use the whole dose in that pen, whereas for the 1050iu one, you will need to select the correct amount in the pen. Talk to the clinic. They must explain this to you. Xx

Hi there, It is really confusing to start with! By the sound of it, I had a similar protocol. You need to stick the cartridge in and wind the number on the pen to 450iu and administer 450iu. So sometimes you’re using a whole cartridge(depending on its size) and sometimes you’ll have some left that you keep for the next day. Hope that helps. Do phone your clinic. I had to phone the emergency line the first night as I was unclear about whether it was amount or strength etc! Good luck x

Hi Lata7384. It is confusing but your clinic should have explained things very clearly.Sounds like they have not.

Sounds like you should be taking 450 as prescribed not the 75 as you took.

The amounts noted on the boxes tell u how much is in each box in total. So in the 450 box you should have used the whole pen for one injection and the other box 1050 needs to be dialed up to each dose to the 450 amount. Can you contact your clinic ?

Hi Lata. You will have been prescribed the dosage according to your hormone results. The leaflet is just a guide. I would go ahead with what your clinic has prescribed. Check with them if worried. Diane
